We are moving back to Michigan and have already sold our house. We are slowly packing up boxes and selling things off. It’s given me a chance to consolidate and figure out the things that I really like most. This rug, pillow, desk in the livingroom is bringing me a lot of joy right now, I love the color combination. It’s so fun to see things that you have had for a long time in one area of the house, for so well in a other area. Switching from dark countertops to white threw my brain for a loop at first. It’s similar to viewing your computer screen or phone with the colors inverted, it takes a bit to adjust. But now that I have adjusted, the perks are clear, the kitchen feels bigger, it looks cleaner (even when it isn’t) and less cluttered. I’m a fan! When I had the countertops quoted out, I also asked if they could give me a quote for the backsplash. It would have increased the budget by roughly a third if we wanted to install a backsplash, and I just wasn’t sure what I wanted in a backsplash, so we decided to just do countertops. (That and I have a feeling I could install them for a lot less myself eventually). We shall see! For now, they are neutral enough, so I can handle that. Are they what I would have chosen? Had a couple friends over the other day and one was so kind and brought me a cutting from their houseplant. I can’t remember the name, does anyone recognize this plant? . . . It looks so at home in our kitchen. We recently had the countertops replaced with a butcher block island and stone perimeter using @cambriasurfaces #ironsbridge quartz. Finally got around to organizing this cupboard that I bought from Habitat for Humanity Restore right before everything shut down. It seems like such a long time ago! I’m keeping all the guest linens in here as well as any extras that might come in handy whenever people start visiting us again. A few tips to keeping a place organized: hanging baskets are your friend! This one I thrifted a while back. It is great for collecting all those small travel bottles that otherwise clutter up a closet. These plastic amber bottles for storing bulk shampoo/conditioner/body wash look great lined up in the shower.
