Light & airy or bright & bold?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your wedding day color palette has a BIG EFFECT on the overall look and style of your wedding day! Softer color palettes (think pastels and neutrals) create a light, airy, and romantic style. Bolder color palettes (jewel tones, darker neutrals, etc.) create a more dramatic and high energy vibe, in my opinion.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My advice to couples? Be true to you! If you want light and bright images, pastels are the way to go! If you're a bright & bold bride, lean into those gem tones! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The only colors I recommend avoiding? Those middle-of-the-map tones (think primary colors). Those colors tend be photograph SO bright that they draw the eye and distract you from the people and connections captured in images!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What's your favorite color palette right now?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ~~~~⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ a huge thanks to the team that brought this inspiration to life!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ coordination: @nelliesparkman⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ venue: @theinnatmeadowbrook @verbena_kc⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ floral: @goodearthfloral⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ linens: @bbjlinen⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ rentals: @ultrapom⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ makeup: @bronzedandblushed⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ gown: @bridalextraordinaire⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ stationery: @ns.stationery⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ model: @tephani_rose
This time of year always has me dreaming about warm summery evenings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Anyone else ready to fast forward to summer?
The primary concern I get from my couples early in their planning process is their worry about being photogenic. And let me tell you: I GET IT. I'm a professional photographer for a living, and even I get intimidated in front of the camera! (Why do you think I like to hide behind it? lol)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you're worried about feeling photogenic in front of the camera, I have great news for you: you're more photogenic than you think! I am constantly surprising couples by discovering their hidden modeling skills. In fact, my most common feedback at the end of an engagement session is “Wow, you made that so easy and fun!” Mission accomplished :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have all kinds of tips & tricks up my sleeve to help you feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera. And that confidence shows through in your final images!
Capturing a couple's details the morning of the their wedding day is my favorite way to start the day for a number of reasons:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1) I see this as my creativity "warm-up" time before we get to the really fun and important images!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2) A couple's details offer clues to their personalities and style. I've already learned a ton about my couples throughout the planning process - especially at their engagement session - but these (sometimes intimate) details show me even more about my couples.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3) Often these details - the gown, shoes, heirloom pieces, florals, etc. - mirror the overall style of the wedding day, so they help set the tone for the rest of the day's images!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4) They're just so darn pretty and fun to photograph!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ~~~~⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ captured at the Micro Retreat September 2020⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ host photographers & design: @emilybroadbentphotography @tbroglinphoto⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ venue: @emersonfieldsvenue⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ floral: @sugarberryblooms⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ bridesmaids: @miagracebridal⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ stationery: @onthreedesigns⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ shoes: @badgleymischka⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ HMUA: @_shanice_mac⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ rentals: @a1partyeventrentalcomo⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ tablescape: @nadineandmina⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ linens: @bbjlinen⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ cake & desserts: @cakehousedesign⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ models: @lyndeekelley @tob_dob
Planning any large event - especially a wedding - can feel like a moving target right now. This should be one of the most exciting times of your lives, but you don't even know what you can look forward to! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If 2020 taught me anything, it's that no matter what your wedding day looks like it'll be an UNFORGETTABLE celebration filled with lasting memories and meaningful moments. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stay the course, all of you newly engaged couples! It's all going to be worth it, and you'll be stronger together on the other end!
While we are by no means in the clear pandemic-wise, turning over the leaf of a new year still gives me so much hope for 2021. There's a sense of refresh and optimism in the air.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How do you feel about 2021 so far?
