Reason #48394 that I love working with seniors: I love when I get to personalize sessions to capture each seniors’ unique style, personality and talents. I knew Kayla was an AMAZING dancer, so I was so excited to snag some sunset dance photos at the end of her shoot. I’m more than a little obsessed with how they turned out. ▫️ #dancer #dance #rgpsenior
Lately, I’ve been craving simplicity. I’ve spent the summer essentially working two full-time jobs, and my schedule has been nothing short of insanity. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not ready to give anything up, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. But sometimes, I wake up in the morning and look at my schedule for the day and just feel like going back to bed. In times like these, I tend to retract and get overwhelmed. To get through the stress, I find enjoyment in the little things. Reading a book on the deck, watching a movie (without my laptop open!), and stopping by my parents’ house for dinner. It’s important to put our stresses into perspective when things start to pile up!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▫️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How do you get through busy or stressful weeks? I’m interested to hear your thoughts and maybe implement your ideas!!
Rachael was seriously the most joyful bride I’ve ever worked with. Her day was filled with bright smiles and happy tears from beginning to end. It can be easy on any special occasion to get caught up in the logistics and rush through the moments, but Rachael and JR planned their day to have breaks for mingling, eating, and even power-napping! Now that’s my kind of wedding day!!! Double tap if you agree! ▫️ One of my favorites moments of their day was Rachael’s time spent getting ready with her bridesmaids and mom. You could tell everyone was just so happy for the couple and Rachael was excited to marry her man! Swipe to see more of this sweet mother/daughter moment! ▫️ #gettingready #bride #bridalportraits
Struttin’ into this week like... ▫️ For those who don’t know, photography is not my full time job (yet)! I work as an instructional designer at a software company as my “day job.” Basically, this means I design training material and plan classes. Every year, I’m in charge of putting together the programming for a two-day conference, and the conference is this week! Needless to say, the planning, combined with senior photo and wedding season, has me all kinds of busy! I’m so ready to take on this week and have another huge to-do list item behind me! ▫️ What do you have going on this week? How can I cheer you on?
Both my sisters are currently engaged, and one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning is all of the girl time! Wedding and bridesmaids dress shopping, decor crafting, bachelorette parties... There’s so much to look forward to! As someone who never had many close girlfriends growing up, I am so thankful to have sisters! In honor of National Girlfriends Day, tag a gal pal below to let them know you love them! I’ll choose a pair to win Starbucks on me! ☕️ Assisting with @trishburtzel
As I attend more and more weddings - whether I am photographing or there as a guest - I realize how much weddings are not JUST about the couple. While they are the centerpiece of the day, behind every wedding is a team of people who made it happen that deserve a standing ovation. This was especially apparent on Becca and Chris’s wedding day. Becca and Chris got married at Becca’s parents’ house. Guests sat on folding chairs in the backyard for their quaint, intimate ceremony, and the reception took place in their beautiful renovated barn on the property. Becca’s parents worked tirelessly to get the barn, house, and yard ready for their little girl to marry the love of her life. This demonstration of dedication and work to make the perfect day for their daughter almost moved me to tears. And the best part of it all? Their wedding day ended with the most beautiful sunset. Swipe to see all the golden hour goodness (and be sure to check out our special guest who showed up for some of their final photos)! ▫️ Second shooting with the amazing @brookeelisabethphoto
IT’S HERE!!! Welcome to the brand new rachelgraffphoto.com! ▫️ This new branding and website have been in the works for months and have truly changed my business. When I started my photography journey, I clearly didn’t know who I was. My editing style was all over the place, because what I truly loved and what I thought I SHOULD be creating didn’t align. It wasn’t until I stopped comparing myself that I really found my voice, my style, and my brand. I had to dig deep to determine how I wanted to present myself and my work to the world, and I couldn’t be happier with my new little web-based billboard! ▫️ A huge THANK YOU to the amazingly talented women who helped make this happen: @jessgingrichcreative for my site, @laura.anne.creative for my branding and logo, and @katherine.bowes for emotional support and validation throughout this process 😁 To see the full site, click the link in my bio! ▫️ Please tell me what you think in the comments! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
New headshots mean something exciting is on the horizon! ▫️ Tomorrow I’m going live with something I’ve been working on all summer! I decided to take on a huge project during busy season, because once I get an idea in my head, I need to act on it FAST! Many late nights have gone into this project, but I’m so excited with the final result! ▫️ Any guesses on what I’ve got in the works? Tell me in the comments!
Let’s talk about growth for a second. ▫️ When I started my photography business a few years ago, I had an eye for pictures but no technical skills. I look back on this time and shake my head, knowing how little I understood - knowing a lot of my best photos were accidents. However, it’s also fun to recognize how much I’ve grown over the past few years. After this shoot with Ella this week, I called my boyfriend and told him how great I felt after this session. “I’m so confident finding good light,” I said. “It’s not a guessing game anymore!” And that, my friends, is growth in action. After countless hours of reading, courses, and practice (lots of practice!!!) I can literally feel the improvement in myself, and it’s amazing. Double tap if you have a dream you’re chasing today and tell me in the comments below one of your Aha! moments you’ve had in your journey. #rgpsenior
Senior season is in full swing. with senior shoots 6 nights this week! While I’m busy (of course) I could not be more thankful. I meet so many incredible seniors (and parents) throughout the summer that become friends over the years. Making seniors feel beautiful and pampered for a few hours is so rewarding, not to mention fun!! I’ve got 25 wonderful seniors to meet this summer, and I couldn’t be more excited to finish out the summer serving them.
