I feel like if it was a children's march or religious minorities march, there wouldn't be so much noise around it. In fact, if anyone did show offense, they'd be called jaahil by the public at large. Makes you think doesn't it. There are so many vices in our society, existing out in the open, yet we're pretty ok with so many of them. They’re celebrated & casually allowed to live amongst us. The giving & receiving of an ugly thing like dowry. Letting minor children work as illegal house help. Paying below minimum wage to workers in our homes while calling it too much. If we find something offensive/vulgar about an event like the @auratmarch, shouldn't we be thinking: Could there be anything more vulgar & offensive than letting dowry, underage labor, minimum wage violations, exist so easily in our society & homes? Raising one's voice can often subconsciously become a product of conditioning. We’re conditioned to accept things like jahez, illegal labor & conditioned to repress issues related to women. It's ok to realise you feel that way, but once you know, it's important to neutralize that conditioning. I'd be disappointed in myself if I raised my voice against a legally compliant, nonviolent march (regardless of who it was for), while staying silent on other widespread injustices that feel ok only cos I'm used to them. As for the concerning, few signs at the Aurat March last year. And maybe this year, who knows. I have no doubt, I wouldn't like all the signs if I too attended it myself. But I have no doubt it would be the same, if I attended a climate march or antiweapons march. It's impossible to find everything to your liking at a mass event with all kinds of people. It's like subscribing to a TV network & wanting to agree with every show that airs. Do we chop off our cable cos some shows arent 'appropriate' to us? I know I'm oversimplifying but then why not. Big picture, overall cause. That’s always what I want to care about. If someone hasn't, then it'd be nice to check the March's purpose, read their charter. It would be unfair to reject the many stellar things it moves for, cos of those one or two signs *I* may not like. Time to make some chai ✌

Starting the week off with some wholesome food for dinner tonight: Made khichdi with a little dahi and garlic achaar on the side 😍 It was my first time making khichdi (😱) and choosing between geeli or dry, was one of the most challenging situations of my life 😂 Which one gets made in your home? I've grown up having the sookhi kind, so eventually went with that ✌ p.s. it turned out perfect (hashtag luddi), recipe link in my stories. #dwwfoodtalk

Weekend lunch at friends in favorite desi outfit these days from @thankgodimfabulous_. Minimal and beautiful with the best fit and cut and in the softest/lightest silk (so perfect for even warm weather). I paired it with a shalwar that I again borrowed from my sister three years ago (lulz) and with earrings from @indiatrend. Now ready to stuff tummy 😋 (come see closeup of shirt on stories)0

Pretty sure I've never owned a more gorgeous shawl before. Mirrored borders on the front, jamavaar on the back, every single thing @cashmerebyizza makes is pure love. A product of hard work, talent and a good heart. Thank you too much for sending this for me 💛 Swipe to see full. Also wearing earrings from @jeweltreasury.au and khussas from @merakidesignhouse.

Just casually hanging out in my newly cleaned refrigerator, you know, as you do 😛 As part of my annual cleaning, I also called in a team from @fantasticservices to really deep clean and scrub down my oven and fridge - both appliances that get heavy usage throughout the year and could really do with a facelift. Swipe to see the gorgeous before and afters. You know, no matter how well you can do it yourself, these guys really bring it back to brand new 😍 For those who were asking, I have a discount code for you to get $20 off if you register through the link in my bio (link also available in my 'cleaning' highlight). Just use code 'Shehr1x' for any service on their website. p.s Also worthy of nothing that I practically got this picture taken in under 5 seconds to not keep the fridge open for too long/waste energy. New milestone met 👍 #thatsfantastic #sponsored

Over the last couple of weeks, Nabeel and I have been slowly reducing a lot of clutter in the apartment and organizing our stuff 🤗 We got done with about 70% of it and then stopped for a bit while my friend Sumika was over. Now really looking forward to finishing it all up over the coming month. It's truly amazing how much you can quiet down your place by taking out things that you no longer need or use and let them begin a second life by donating or recycling. Year on year, I grow a deeper fondness for having less. So much of how we feel, comes from what we live within. The simpler my home is, the better I live 💛 Planning to clean out the top half of my closet this weekend :) Anyone else doing sames? The wooden jewelery box is from @sbshoppersinn. #dwwhome

Cannot express my excitement and/or believe my luck that my bff Sumika @afterglowglobal is coming to Sydney for a few days!!!!! She's mainly coming on a work trip but the fact that she moved to Singapore and that we are in such close access to each other that she has work trips here, is all kinds of magical/awesome/how-is-this-happening kind of stuff. Tomorrow we pick her up from the airport and for a week she all maaainnneee. Who else is long distance from their best friend and where does he/she live? 🤔

Anybody in the mood for some chitchat? 🙃 I just got done with dinner and have some chai by my side; felt like talking about some things, life updates, blog stuff, so aa jao let's hang out for a couple minutes. 1. After the trip to Singa and then family trip to Pak, it feels really nice to be back home. Back to my own routine, my own kitchen to make chai, my own bed, Nabeel🙃 2. It's always interesting to me how new beginnings get you thinking about things you want to change. I'm not really one to make resolutions but I thoroughly enjoy the feeling a new year brings with it and I have so much in my mind that I want to do differently for the blog, what I talk about, etc etc. I feel quite excited about this space. 3. I said this on stories some days ago, but I also want to live an even slower life than before. All paces are good, but slow is the one for me. I want to simplify things for myself even more. 4. Many of you know that last year I started eating cleaner than I was used to and now I eat good and bad with a balance 😛 I've really been obsessed with the idea of being more fit - not reduce weight – just be more fit; and this year I feel like I want to increase my upper body strength in some way? I’m thinking I want to learn to do a pushup without dying? 😂 Or a pullup? Going to try my best, unless a doughnut distracts me then I can't help anybaady. 5. Nabeel’s making a casual list for our weekend sitting right next to me and being the sexy adults that we are, we currently have inspirational tasks like lots of organizing, plantcare and mold checking to do, lulz. 6. Also wondering what’s up with you guys? Share something. 7. Also, by the way today I recorded how I add waves to my hair and will be editing it tonight. Everyone who I kept hanging for so long, please look out for it tomorrow! 8. Thandi hawa is coming through our windows and right now in this moment life is very good. That's it :)

Hallo. After a brief hiatus, I've finally slowly started getting back into work this month. To be honest, to me it feels like I'm starting my new year now 🤭 New notebook, fresh mind, simple ideas, I'm actually very excited for the months to come and what life's going to be like - online and offline. Other than my head, I also did a refresh on my apartment. I just love doing a thorough deep clean of my place at the start of a year. It feels like a much-deserved cleanse of a space I use so much to rest and recharge in. I obviously love cleaning on my own (I mean, I actually have a 'cleaning' highlight 🤪) but there are many things that I don't want to take the time out for. I was too happy to partner once again with @fantasticservices who came in to scrub my place inside out. They did a 'spring cleaning' of my apartment which is basically the usual cleaning plus all the other things that you want to do but never get to, like cabinet doors, window sills, wall skirting/baseboards, all the mirrors in the bathroom, the glass doors, IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I promised a lot of you a discount code if you wanted to use them as well, it's 'shehr1x' and the link is in my bio (also adding to my 'cleaning' highlight). Happy cleaning up the mind and your spaces :) #partner #fantasticservices #thatsfantastic

Coming back to your feeds for 2020, hey frans 😎 Wearing this kurta from @afsanehpakistan that so many of you wanted the link to when I wore it in Pakistan (it's launched now and the link is in my stories, pls to go find). Swipe for full view of ma clothz. But actually this post is about something new I want to start doing for all my PR unboxings/products I talk about. With a very lame hashtag, I be doing #DWWFabReviews (keeping it simple 👀) Many of you told me you like the way I show products (touch, feel, closeup style), cos it helps you see stuff 'in real' so imma do it under this new hashtag now as my signature style 😛 Also don't miss my stories aaj kal, I'll be posting really cool stuff I discovered in Pak 💛 p.s. earrings are forever favorite @indiatrend

When I quit my corporate career, apart from diving into completely new territory, I also said goodbye to a lot of perks that were usual for the job. A company car, work trips to new countries, business class travel, etc etc. But doing what you really and truly want to do, requires (among other things) a heavy dose of faith in your own self. As I let go of not just a steady paycheque, but also many of the 'fancy' things so many of my friends continued to enjoy, I will honestly tell you, I didn't experience a second of doubt. I trusted I'd eventually have what was meant for me. Two days ago, I was invited to travel back home from Karachi to Sydney in Business Class on the @Emirates A380, undoubtedly the best aircraft in their fleet - a work opportunity I earned with all these years of hard work, some quiet patience, lots of faith, massive amounts of trust from you guys, and an amazing PR team at Emirates 😊 I learn this year on year on year: staying true to what you want and doing it with honesty, will always take you everywhere you're meant to be. Be good, get good. Thanks for all the love on my business class stories :) You guys made my day with your messages. If anyone wants to virtually travel with me through reclining seats, inflight beds and a very cool business class lounge, I've left it all up in my Emirates highlight 🙃 #partner #Emirates #FlyBetter #EmiratesAirline #dwwstories

Hello 👋 Seeing you guys here after nearly 3 weeks? I'm lying in bed with some green tea, it's about 1 am and other than the soft whirring of the fan, it's very quiet and chill in here. Hope you guys are doing good and up for a small chat? 1. Some of you might know Nabeel and I took a 2 week staycation of sorts over the last days of December. It was succch a wholesome time at home. Tells you, you don't have to go too far for a good vacation if you've got good company on you 💏 2. Even though my year ended pretty well, it's been generally so low because of the catastrophic bushfires happening around us. And mainly why I haven't been able to post much is because it's just felt so off; didn't even feel right to do any highlights of the year, happy new year kind of posts this time. It's surreal how you go on with your life, while in parallel such deeply saddening things are happening around you. Cannot imagine the hardship of those who've lost and those fighting the fires. 3. I spent the last one week very quietly sorting out the backend of my work. It feels so refreshing to clear the clutter. Cleaned out my inboxes, organized paperwork, sorted expenses. I feel so ready to get back to work 🙃 4. But not getting back to work for another few days because of another trip. Details in my post coming up next :) Hello 👋

Favorite hack to have the coziest, relaxing vibe at home: LED candles 😍 Once I'm done with dinner and winding down at the end of the day, I always dim the lights because there is nothing that feels like rest than the soft golden, glow of LED candles. I have a bunch of them around the apartment and am happily using long lasting Duracell Ultra in mine so I can rest and relax hassle-free 🙃 #DuracellUltra #Duracell #ad

Some days ago Nabeel switched jobs and we found that his new place of work came with a two week holiday during christmas (very common here). I hadn't taken on any work before going on my Singapore trip so I said no to everything that had come my way for now and we got an unexpected little holiday to finish off the rest of the year 🙃 We've been spending a very chill few days at home since last Friday (during the time I was uploading Singa stories, heh) and very excited about the next few days of more chill coming up. We have no fancy plans except hanging out together with each other as well as hanging out separately with each other ☺ I have plans to cook something new I haven't tried, organize a bit around the house, go for a walk everyday, watch movies, hang out at the library and some other little feel-good things; I posted my baby wishlist on stories if you want to come see. My last work post of the year goes up later today and I'm so happy to wrap up the year in a way I hadn't thought of but loving very much 💛 Just a little life update. #2weekholiday #dwwstories

To take a break from my pocha duties (reference last post and today's Stories, in case you missed it 😜), I bring to you this ahhhmazing Chicken Avocado Salad that was an instant hit with both Nabeel and I when I made it for lunch some days ago. The recipe I followed used rotisserie chicken but I got some chicken schnitzel from the store, baked it in the oven and it was wowza 😍 Plus with the perfectly ripe avocadoes (from @aldiaustralia, yes please), it's a fantastic addition to your regular meal plans. I'm adding the recipe to my Stories in a bit (and 'Cooking' highlight), it's soooo filling and delicious, haye. Let me know if you wanna be make it and feel free to admire my presentation skills cos I always ready for dat. #AldiPartner #dwwfoodtalk P.s. you can check the 'Blogging Tips' highlight to see when I was setting up this shot 😉 #ALDIShopping #ALDIFinds

Guess what our Sunday was like. After a magical Saturday, we woke up to a fabulously flooded carpet this morning, hashtag real life 🤪 We had a bathroom leak and over a few hours, (clean) water had flowed out into our bedroom and made its way to the living room to give us a grand welcome in the morning. After an amazing vacation, this was truly the gift I needed to get back to reality 😂 Like getting paani (pun unintended) thrown on your face by a parent (role model behavior) when you wouldn't wake up for school after a fun weekend. #chapairfeels We spent all day figuring that mess out, getting expensive quotes only to reject them 😛, trips to get equipment to suck out the water (my glam shot above is with a wet vacuum in case you're wondering), running an airblower that's been eating our brain since many hours & canceling all we'd planned to bring the carpet back to its days of dry glory. Interestingly, its not my first flooding 😜 and I'm pretty much a professional apartment flooder (once when I was living alone in Karachi and flooded the whole apartment with a water pipe burst and mold issues (mashallah) and then again also when I was living alone with a geyser burst & the added bonus of it happening at 2 in the night 👻 (double mashallah. Anyhoo, we we were pretty lucky this time cos the water never went under any furniture and magically moved in a very strange path, so nothing's damaged. If this isn't a gift from god, then what is. Btw anytime something like this happens, I realise how easy it is to be friendly & nice to your spouse (or any family member) when things are going well, but in crap scenarios is when you need to find your *dosti*. We strangely enjoyed all the pain of today & even now when it's not fully over 🙄, I love that in annoying moments, no matter whose fault it is (or not) I can trust us to behave nice with each other and just hand out extra pappis as consolation cos everybaady laoo pappis. And of course, undoubtedly it will be a better memory than many other well-planned amazing things & who doesn't want extra content to laugh at when you're 70 and sitting on a park bench with ghutna problems or something like that 😍

HELLOOOOO. How's everyone doing? 🤗 I'm back home in Sydney after a week in Singapore with friends and have soooo much to talk to you guys about 🤩 Some mini updates coming up. Pehli baat I landed back home yesterday and had such an amazing day with Nabeel, doing all the regular things that felt too speshul after one week long distance marrij. Nabeel had cleaned the house in my honor 🕊, cooked masala biryani 😋 and done all laundry so I has nothing to do except disco and stare at my plants. Also, I talked 7 days worth of content with him over chai and meetha, showed him all the trip photos, made frozen pizza at night with a movie and it was all just so good. Also, also a tiny interview of mine went up on @the.dadgram IGTV if you want to see. I look beautiful in the thumbnail 🤪, don't miss it. Also, also, also, I had a PHENOMENAL trip with my friends and cannot wait to spam you with Singapore stories; if you haven't been to Singa, I think you'll really enjoy with me. Baaki am settling back in and will be posting my trip on Stories from tomorrow so stay tuned and tell me how you been and if you got a geeli pappi for me, this is the time to give it 💋
