• I'm just curious...is getting excited about the arrival of your first baby's car seat a Wow...I'm getting old thing, or is it just part of the excitement of being a new mom?

Truth be told, I was strangely excited when Baby Moore's car seat arrived. It could be that I'm just getting old and these are the the kinds of things that excited me now....but I think it's really more of feeling that until we actually got that (and all of the other wonderful gifts our families and friends showered us with last weekend), part of me still couldn't believe that Baby Moore is actually coming. It didn't feel real until I was able to hold all of their things in my hands.

After two devastating losses over the last two years, and 8 months of feeling constantly scared that I'm going to see blood every time I go to the bathroom, our sweet, healthy, and CONSTANTLY dancing (seriously, they're having a party in there every day!) baby is finally going to be here in just 5 short weeks. I just cannot wait until they are finally here and I can hold them in my arms. I'm SO ready! But we do have a lot to get done around here before they come, so I gotta stop getting ahead of myself.

I'm starting to hit that point in pregnancy where I am getting more and more uncomfortable. My feet swell if I'm on them too long (praise the Lord for compression socks! Ladies -- these have helped SO much!), my hands are in CONSTANT terrible pain (not a great thing when you're a photo editor and in a busy season), and it's hard to make it through a day without a nap. It's a challenging and scary season for sure, but I know that it's going to be worth it when they're finally here!

I seriously couldn't be so relaxed about this new upcoming journey if it wasn't for my incredible team. Seriously -- they have been amazing and so on top of getting ready to transition to working with my clients during my maternity leave that I am SO incredibly thankful for each and every one of them. They are an incredible group of women and I am blessed to have so much support from them!

  • Tuesday officially marked 6 years of business for Emily Moore Boutique Photo Editing! 🎉 I admit that some days I’m still pinching myself about it. If you had told me 6 years ago that I’d be running not just a thriving editing business, but also an incredible team of editors who are all just so sweet and amazing, I wouldn't have believed you.

I remember the girl who told me I wasn't a good leader to my face in college. It's the comment that echoed relentlessly through my mind as I struggled during my first year of business and again 7 years later when I thought about starting a team. I remember the sleepless nights and the stress that weighed so heavily on me during my first 1.5 years of business. I don't remember details of vacations I took…only that I usually spent them locked away in a bedroom or hotel room trying to get work done because I was afraid clients would not work with me if I took any time off. I remember it all, and I am SO proud to still be here to tell you about it today. While I am grateful for everything I learned in my first few years of business, I am so happy that part of my life is far behind me.

To celebrate 6 years of business, today I’m talking about 6 things I’ve learned in my time as a small business owner! If you’re a newer business owner, then you will definitely want to check out this blog post today! Head to the link in my bio to check it out!

  • Counting down days of the week when it comes to pregnancy: slow as molasses. 🤰🏼

Counting down the days of the week when it comes to business: Wait...it's Friday already? Seriously? Where did this week go?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

My days lately have been filled with editing, culling, and reviewing applications for a new Associate Editor for my team, and I am honestly loving it! Though, I feel like the last few weeks have just flown by with work...it's definitely a weird feeling.

After last spring was essentially cancelled for the photography world, I am so grateful that things are looking a lot different this year. The only challenge? We're nearing the 3rd trimester of our pregnancy and I am starting to feel reeeeeally tired. I've gotten to the point where I've had to start taking afternoon naps and it makes me feel incredibly guilty. But I'm constantly reminding myself that I need to listen to my body...it's currently making a human being for goodness sake! One that is very, VERY active, I might add 💕

I think that's the tough thing about being a small business owner -- even though we have the flexibility, the guilt can creep in when we're needing to take advantage of it (perhaps that's just me). Nevertheless, I am SO grateful for a job that allows me to work comfortably through this season of life! So while this pregnancy feels like it's dragging on, and work feels like it's flying by, I am pushing through it all and getting things DONE! 💪🏼

We're heading into the weekend, and I'm celebrating the fact that I got a blog post out this week (that I didn't really have the energy for, but followed through with because it's one of my 2021 goals), AND I got a newsletter out this week! Also -- I posted all 5 days on Instagram this week 🎉 WHAAAT?? That's a huge accomplishment in my book! Celebrate all the achievements, friends, no matter how small they are!

So tell me below 👇🏻, what are some of the goals you accomplished this week? Big or small -- I want to hear them!

  • I seriously cannot wait for this icky, cold rainy weather to clear up for spring weddings! It's about this time every year where I start to get impatient for the April and May wedding season to start. Pink peonies everywhere, the beautiful ring details, couples celebrating their love and families coming together to support their new lives together...it's just all so wonderful! 💛 I cannot get enough of it, which is one of the many reasons I love this job so much. I've been lucky enough to have some gorgeous weddings trickle in here and there over the last few weeks, so those will hold me over until Spring gets here...but I cannot wait! Just a few more weeks to go! 🥰

Tell me below, are you looking forward to Spring?? 🌸What's your favorite thing about spring weddings?

  • I admit, I'm pretty jealous of all the snow everyone's gotten over the last few days! Especially since it rained for 5 days straight this past weekend...seriously we had flash flood warnings for days while everyone else was getting snow! We usually get one big snow a year here in NC (and by big I mean 3-5 inches), but it looks like it probably won't happen for us this year. I do love a good snow day where everything is covered in a beautiful white blanket of fresh powder. I catch myself staring out the windows a lot more when it's snowing out...oh how I love watching snow fall! Guess I'll just have to live through everyone else's snow day experience this year 😭

Tell me below, did you get any snow?? What's your favorite thing to do on a snow day?!❄️
