I had a lot of thoughts on my run this morning. My heart has been aching from everything that has transpired across our nation. It’s forced me to open my eyes to really see what is around me, instead of allowing me to continue living in my own little bubble. I have never had to think twice about going for a run in a neighborhood, because no one would be suspicious of why I was there. I have never had to worry about being pulled over or stopped because of the color of my skin. It didn’t even cross my mind that I would ever have to have a discussion with my son about how to act around a police officer if he were ever detained. I never realized just how privileged I am. As a human, my heart breaks for the way that other humans are being mistreated. And as a mother, my heart breaks for the pain and anguish that the mothers and families of those who were killed have endured. I will never truly understand. But I am listening. I am watching. I am learning. And I am praying for change.

⭐️ 2019 was a year of discovery. After spending nearly a decade as a wedding photographer, running a successful business with associates in Wisconsin, moving back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family in 2017, and traveling back and forth between PA and WI for weddings through 2018, I had no idea what my career path would be for the future. So I experimented. I had some failures. I tried opening an online store, because I love photography and thought it would be a good blend of my photo skills and marketing ideas. But it wasn’t right. I worked as a virtual assistant, because I love helping other small businesses and individuals succeed. But that wasn’t quite right either. I also had some successes. I now am a personal editor for 6 wedding photographers nationwide, and love being able to help them achieve their goals for their businesses. I also manage Instagram content for a successful, high level business coach in NYC, thanks to my partnership with @brandstrategyco and @brit_chandler And I began picking up my camera again. I was asked to document some awesome individuals and businesses, and in the process, I rekindled my passion. 2020, I’ve decided, is the year I work for more of the things that fuel my creative fire 🔥, while helping other small businesses succeed. 2020, I’m ready for ya. Are you ready for me? • • • #photographer #thebeerphotog #supportlocalbreweries #supportlocalbeer #beertography #beerphotographer #beertographer #workhardplayharder #alisonkundraticphotogtaphy #smallbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #pennsylvania #paphotographer

Have you ever resisted something because you think you want something else? Like your strengths — you know you excel in a certain area when it comes to your work, but you constantly try to pursue another area… Maybe it’s the enneagram 7 in me, because I consistently find myself struggling to hone in on ONE thing I want to do. I guess that’s why I haven’t had a traditional career path. Instead, I enjoy working on multiple projects at a time (personal editing, instagram content management, and photography). Although I have a clear focus for the IG management and personal editing aspects of my work, I’ve struggled for a while now to really figure out how I’ve wanted my photography career to develop. Some of you might know that before I was even a wedding photographer, I worked for a newspaper. I actually went to school for journalism, and focused on photojournalism. Visual storytelling. There’s something about documenting a series of events that may never occur within the same circumstances again that gave me purpose. And the transition from newspaper photographer to wedding photographer continued that purpose. But when I knew that it was time to end my wedding photography career, that purpose, in a sense, was lost. Don’t get me wrong, this is NOT an announcement on my return to wedding photography — but rather a realization that I’ve come to. I was looking through the images that I photographed a few months ago for Buck Company, the foundry where my husband works, to add to my website. (Side note, this was the first time I stepped foot into a foundry even though he’s been in the industry for over a decade!) As I scrolled through the images, I realized that the ones that gave me feeling — gave me life — were the images that told a story. And in this realization also came my ah-ha moment. I. AM. A. VISUAL. STORYTELLER. I always have been, and I always will continue to be. I’m not 100% sure how this is going to play out in the photography side of my business, but I’m excited to see how it unfolds. • • #visualstorytelling #visualstoryteller #photographer #chasinglight

🧐 Does anyone else sometimes view themselves as a creative problem solver instead of a photographer? I used to tell my couples this when I was a wedding photographer, because wedding days present all kinds of challenges… poor lighting situations, uncontrollable weather, and even last minute location changes. When I moved into my office/studio space last month, I knew that I would have to rely on artificial light to create the images that I wanted to produce since there are no windows in the space. I’m not unfamiliar with studio lighting, but I had relied on natural light for the past year or so to create images that I wasn’t sure I would be able to recreate with flash/softboxes. Yesterday, I had the chance to actually experiment with different lighting (and try out my new @replicasurfaces ), and here is a test shot of what I came up with. I really wanted to create some harsh lighting and had a vision of casting shadows across the background. I tested several things out before landing on this set up (swipe 👉 to see) using the ring light as a modeling light (in reality it was powered waaaayyyy down when I clicked the shutter) and my OCF for the main light source. And I’m pretty sure my office neighbors thought I was nuts because I yelled in excitement when I found just what I was looking for! So, do you consider yourself a creative problem solver? I think, at times, you should. It’s a boost of confidence when you figure out the “problem” and create something awesome. • • • #creatinglight #ocf #shadows #photographer #photography #lancasterphotographer #yorkphotographer #commercialphotographer #commericalphotography #paphotographer #pennsylvaniaphotographer #ocfphotographer #lifeofaphotographer #entrepreneur #communityovercompetition #create #calledtocreate #centralpaphotographer #717creative #drinkphotography #drinkphotographer #beerphotography #beerphotographer

Inspiration can come from the most mundane source... I’ve been feeling the urge to pick up my camera lately, and noticed this amazing light coming in the shower from the sky light. So, I picked up my camera, and damn it felt good. Editing season is in full swing, but I have to stop and remind myself to create as well, for it fuels my soul 🔥 #photographer #photography #photoeditor #entrepreneur #girlboss #communityovercompetition #girlpreneur #mycreativeempire #caffeniateandconquer #wemakecreative #wearethecreativeeconomy #light #shadows #shadow #lightandshadow #chasinglight #alisonkundraticphotography

Growing up in the West Chester / Downingtown area, Victory was my first introduction to the craft beer world…granted I wasn’t old enough to partake at the time, but since moving back to PA from Wisconsin two years ago, I’ve loved being able to visit all 3 taprooms without taking a flight to get there 😉 Cheers! 🍻 . .
