• Raise your hand if at some point this year you felt like giving up, or you doubted yourself and all that you’ve worked so hard on. Yep 🙋🏻‍♀️... I’ve had those days too! I never try to hide the fact that it can get tough. And for me, when it does.... i do these 3 things:
1) I have a bath and play my favourite music really loud and usually do a face mask 
2) I step out of my usual. Recently i arranged a date night with my husband.... (we hadn’t been out all year!!) and it was just the tonic i needed. I tend not to be a talker.... till it gets too much. I let things go and just keep going and going. But it was sooooo good to spend time talking things through. An oldie... but such a goodie! 
3) Pre 2020 my 3rd would have been ... plan a break! But this year my ‘break’ has been a take away coffee and a solo walk along the seafront! ..... it’s been a lifesaver some days!

Did you know Pilates was originally called “Contrology”. It was only after Joseph Pilates died that Contrology was re-named to The Pilates Method. 

Contrology is defined as the complete coordination of body mind and spirit. 

Here’s a video i love of one my clients practicing “knees off” on the reformer. This is a really challenging exercise that requires complete control, a strong abdominal lift and tail bone reach. On top of this he’s working on getting those springs under complete control. You see how there wiggling a bit.... well that’s work in progress. The reformer never lies and tells your teacher more than you might think 👀. This Pilates stuff is hard work and takes years of practice and patience. But oh are the years of practice and patience worth it..... your body will thank you!

Here's how: ⁠

INGREDIENTS: ⁠
250g sweet potato⁠
265g black beans⁠
75g nut butter⁠
60g buckwheat flour ⁠
60g @formnutrition choc/peanut performance powder⁠
30g cacao⁠
115g medjool dates⁠
1 flax egg (1 tbsp flaxseeds mixed with 3tbsp water)⁠
1tsp vanilla extract⁠
1tsp baking powder⁠
1tsp instant coffee⁠
A generous pinch of sea salt⁠
⁠
TOPPINGS: ⁠
2tbsp chopped nuts⁠
1tbsp sprinkles dark chocolate shavings⁠
Sprinkle of sea salt flakes⁠
⁠
METHOD: ⁠
1) turn heat to 175C and line tray with baking paper⁠
2) peel sweet potato and cook in small cubes until soft⁠
3) remove stones from dates and soak them in boiling water for 10 minutes⁠
4) in a large mixing bowl blend all the dry ingredients⁠
5) in a food processor add all the wet ingredients and blend until smooth. Then add dry ingredients and blend again⁠
6) place batter into the lined tray and spread evenly. Then sprinkle over the toppings⁠
7) place in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Insert a tooth pick or knife to see if it's done. If it doesn't come out perfectly clean, don't worry - they'll be gooey-er :)⁠
8) let them cool for at least 10-15 minutes⁠
