SAGU AIC President Dr. Jonathan D. Gannon proudly announces the appointment of Rev. Joel A. Cornelius (Oneida Nation) as Vice President for Student Development effective July 1, 2021. Pastor Joel Cornelius steps into the role recently vacated by Rev. Nicholas Zamorano who has recently been elected Lead Pastor for Iglesia del Valle Church in Phoenix, Arizona. (Pastor Nick will remain as an Adjunct Instructor for SAGU AIC.) Pastor Joel Cornelius brings a rich background of 35 years of experience as a pastor, network presbyter, elder, and coach in Montana, North Dakota, and Arizona. This coupled with 25 years of service as a staff chaplain and board member for the Montana Indian Youth Camps has given him tremendous insight into the needs of Native American youth of various tribal backgrounds. Most recently he served as the Lead Pastor at Tuba City Assembly of God on the Navajo Reservation where he saw the church more than double over the several years he served there. Much of the church's growth and success was in the lives of their young people. A 1989 graduate of (then) American Indian Bible College, Pastor Joel is presently working towards completion of a master's degree in Organizational Leadership at SAGU. He has also served for many years on the SAGU AIC Board before being asked to serve in this new role as the Vice President of Student Development for this campus. Very much in demand as a special speaker for camp meetings, revivals, youth camps, and various other venues, Pastor Joel brings a tremendous gift mix and experience base to his role and SAGU AIC excitedly welcomes him and his family to our community.
