My sound is a mix of Indie pop / Hip-hop and R&B. “We don't'' is a song about having an intimate moment with someone without having any sexual intentions. Navigating queerness and sexual experience is such a hard discussion to have with partners. A lot of folx from Black , Latinx and indegenous cultures experience so much intergenerational sexual trauma and of course the reality of rape culture that is uplifted by the patriachry. “We don’t” explores the story of true and pure intimacy from a queer ENBY perspective. A global pandemic has sparked at the same time as a civil uprising. This space of isolation and stillness encouraged me to get creative and finally release music that just frankly made me feel good. So much media is centered around black trauma and it made me want to create some music that was focused on love. So releasing this has helped me find my joy and Black Joy matters the most to me and also Black love. “We don’t” is smooth and silky and brings me to a new sound of neo-pop that I hope audiences will enjoy. I stripped out the 808’s and beats and this song just includes myself along with guitar , bass and drums all played by Myles Joyner and engineered by Brok Mende. “ . #enby #poc #qtpoc

In the city of Jacksonville LGBTQI+ folx are “suppose” to be protected under the “Human Rights Ordnance” that was passed into law ! JSO created an “LGBTQI” liaison task force to help with the increasing MURDERS of Black Trans women. Also with the harassment that LGBTQ folx face . . @sweettea.thedragqueen was AT HOME around 3 am ASLEEP while multiple people tried to break into their home! They shouted racial homophobic slurs they even climbed to the second window to try to break in!!!! The police did discover a ladder in the street but told sweettea they couldn’t do ANYTHING!!! I’m dedicating my @colorjaxblue this week to Sweet tea so that Jacksonville can understand the DANGER of being Black and Queer in this city . . . It is a lot of emotional labor not only to administer but also for the brave folx who come in not knowing what may be on the other side of that test. It’s a powerful act on both sides. The vulnerability of that space and conversations I have with folx stays with me each day but I feel honored to do the work. . . HIV affects not only my black community but also my lantix community. Their is so much stigma around HIV , STI’s & queer sex Ed in general. Doing this work is active part of radicalizing health and disrupting yt supremacy! . .
