Roamers Superfood Overnight Oats!! ๐ฑ Typically we prepare smoothies and breakfasts like these oats the night before and take them to work in mason jars. However, this Sunday morning I am enjoying this bowl of goodness in the shade on our patio! Recipe below. ๐๐ผ โข โข โข โข โข 1/2 cup oats 1 tbsp Roamers Superfood Mix 1 cup nut milk (@califiafarms toasted coconut almond milk in my bowl โ๐ผ) โข Refrigerate over night or for at least 2 hrs before eating. Then top with your favourite fruits, nuts and nut butters...a sprinkle of granola, cinnamon and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup also works well. Enjoy!

So I took a month off Roamers social media and a month off Roamers in general (except for personally consuming the Superfood Mix which I took all the way to England with me ๐) โข โข โข โข It was a good break. I just wanted to say hello, this is a recent pic of usโ๐ผin Italy (where we ate and drank EVERYTHING), we are back in #Indianapolis, we are officially married, and Roamers lives on ๐คฃ๐๐ผ โข โข โข โข I donโt post much anymore and I donโt plan to change that. I will endeavour to continue real time stories now and then to inspire healthy eating habits, as I meet people all the time who ask how to transition to healthier lifestyle and for ideas, and Iโm all about that. Whilst Iโve got your attention I will say this: social media has as many merits as it has drawbacks. It is not representative of real life. It causes one to miss out on the present. This time last year our barista โ๏ธ and taco truck ๐ฎ days had just come an end and we were staying with a lovely British man and his South African wife in Kewarra Beach, Queensland, Australia. ๐ Our travel dream was ending, the Roamers business dream was just a dream, career next steps were in progress (Skype interviews for Joe from Australia and Sri Lanka!), the greencard was in planning, and we hadnโt even begun to imagine the friends we would make in #Indianapolis, the new job that awaited me, or the beautiful home we would buy there less than a year later! What a journey a year can be! We wouldnโt have done any of this without our miserable, long hour, thankless jobs in London ๐ and I would never have lived this past year / 18months the way I did without the motivation to change the stress and unhappiness in my old work life. Or โsickcareโ. ๐ฑoften, a sick person can reduce their symptoms through more informed food choice (Iโm talking about conditions that can be reduced or reversed here - high blood pressure, digestion issues, high cholesterol, obesity, type 2 diabetes..) and would save a lot of money as well as adding to their life expectancy ๐ฑFor us, a smoothie most days helps us to get an extra portion of veg (we usually go for a leafy green) and a couple of fruits, and some seeds/spices/nut butters/oats - we add 2.5 cups of water to make two 12oz smoothies ๐ฑAnyone looking to improve their diet could start by eating as many whole foods as you can, and reduce processed, fiber stripped foods, and decrease your intake of animal products ๐ฑWhy not try to create a habit of drinking a smoothie several times a week (or everyday if you can - just remember to mix up your ingredients so you get a variety of nutrients). We usually have a banana for texture and sweetness but avocados also give a smooth creamy texture ๐๐ฅ

Anyone planning a spring/summer camping trip?! ๐ทfrom 1 year ago (May 1st, 2017) on our roadtrip; we spent a few days here in and around the #GrandCanyonNationalPark. Weโve had a request for vegan MEAL IDEAS on camping trips! This is what we would eat on camping trips last year ๐ฑ@amyskitchen soups (vegan and organic) - aka worldโ easiest meal ๐ ๐ฑpre made veggie burgers at home (or shop bought equivalent) wrap in parchment paper and cook on arrival, and add to a toasted bread bun! ๐ฑquick whole grain oats with long life nut milk and peanut butter, cinnamon or raw cacao added ๐ฑfoil wrapped pouches of chopped potatoes and onions with seasoning (other veggies can be added!) @trishkrall is to thank for this idea ๐ ๐ฑsimple bean chili (a chopped onion, chopped garlic, 2 cans of beans, 1 can of tomatoes, smoked paprika and cumin, seasoning) with pita and maybe lime or cilantro ๐ฑsnacks: fruit, nuts, energy balls (you can buy Roamers energy balls now @marketwagon !), @larabar bars! It does take some preparation and a cooler, and regular ice stops ๐so many memories @jdtolen. But you can do it! Following a vegan diet whilst camping is definitely doable, itโs less risky than meat and dairy and just as fun! Not to mention WAY healthier and more compassionate ๐๐ท๐ฎ

#Chia means 'strength' in the Mayan language, and it is thought chia seeds were valued for their medicinal properties and rich nutritional value by the Aztecs. As many mindful eaters know, chia is packed with antioxidants, has 5x MORE calcium than milk, 2 tbsp chia has the same amount of omega 3 fatty acids as 4 oz of salmon, is loaded with fiber and contains protein.....the list goes on, but you get the idea! #FoodFacts #FoodAsMedicine #ChiaSeeds #SuperSuperFood ๐ฑ ๐ฑ We hope to sell portions of our #ChiaPudding in future for those busy bees out there but you can make your own in 2 mins the night before you want it (1 cup plant milk to 0.25 cup chia seeds, flavor as you like with cinnamon or a dash of maple syrup for example, let it sit in the fridge for about 4hrs, or overnight, until it reaches a thick gel consistency). (This makes 1 good sized portion but like most of our recipes we tend to make bigger batches to eat throughout the week!)
