Photog tip time! To create a feeling of intimacy in a photo, shoot past something in the foreground. Having the edge of the dock railing in the edge of this shot makes it feel like I’m farther away from them - as if I’ve caught a private moment. You can shoot past anything to create this look - the edge of a wall, leaves, flowers, a curtain - the options are endless!
You know what’s just great about this photo? I told Ryan to stand behind Allie and snuggle her, but this sweet moment with their eyes closed was all them. Allie leaned her head up against his cheek and they both immediately just relaxed, closed their eyes, and took a deep breath - a perfect little moment of peace.
I often have my brides use their train or a veil to bring movement into a photo. It’s such a fun way to change up a more classic pose (swipe to see what I mean!), and it shows of the details that the bride so carefully chose. Whether it’s the lace on the dress or trim on a veil, if you get it moving, it draws attention to it, giving it the spotlight it deserves. Proposals at Wormsloe can be extra tricky - with spotty lighting and possible tourists driving by and such - but sometimes we get lucky with a totally clear shot of the main drive! 🙌🏻🎉 I’ve learned from experience that earlier is better - if you can get there as close to opening time (9am), you will beat the crowds (and the heat) and you might just have the main drive to yourself.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And the “X” on the ground is suuuuper helpful at Wormsloe, because then I can ensure the couple is standing in a big patch of shade at just the right moment. 💍
Golden hour maternity shoots on HHI are just the best...😍
When you're planning a destination elopement, I know finding the right vendors can be overwhelming. That's why I decided to bring together five of Savannah's top wedding vendors to create one easy package! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hand-picked vendors I’ve worked closely with over the last 7 years. I was referring them to my elopement clients already, so I decided to make the process that much easier for my clients by bundling them all together into one simple, all-inclusive elopement package: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bouquet + boutonnière by @ivoryandbeau Hair + makeup by @royalmakeupandhair 6” cake by @wickedcakesofsavannah 1.5 hours of photography by @aptbphoto Officiating by @reverendjoewadas ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ DM me for more info, or head over to @savannahelopementpackage! ❤️
I keep finding myself thinking that 2020 is just a raging dumpster fire of a year. But I know that’s not the whole truth. People are still getting married and having babies. There’s still good happening, we just have to look for it. I’m naturally pessimistic, so I have to fight my natural instincts to only see the hard things. But, right now, in this moment at least, I see love in this photo, a marriage adventure starting and a new life about to come into this world. And those are all VERY good things. ❤️
Hi, I’m Wendy - a whimsical + heart-centered photographer based in Savannah, GA and available for travel worldwide. When I’m not behind the camera you can find me snuggling my pug Winston, trying to keep my new garden alive, or re-reading Harry Potter. (I’m almost done with them though - what should I re-read next?? Maze Runner or Hunger Games?)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over the last 10 years as a photographer, I’ve learned that this job is about more than just taking good photos. It’s about creating a joy-filled, easy experience for everyone in front of my camera!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So whether I’m making you laugh during a chaotic moment on your wedding day, getting down in the sand to play with your kids during a family shoot, or dancing behind the camera to make you giggle - that’s ALL part of a magical photography experience.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can’t wait to create some magic together! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: @margaretelizabethphoto (edited by me)
