Since I've started a new gig, I've been retooling photo project availability to strive for a bit of work/life balance. I'm only doing a handful of family shoots for the rest of the year (availability at the link in profile) and I'm really looking forward to quiet moments like this one.
“Change is good.” - Rafiki “Yeah, but it’s not easy.” - Simba Two of my favorite lines of all time. When I first heard them, I was 17 years old and had recently learned that I’d be moving away from all of my friends, my tennis coach & training, and the city I had called home since I was in 5th grade. When the Lion King came out, I related to Simba so much. He had lost things he held dear and was wandering the wilderness trying to find purpose. Dramatic, I know, but did you hear the part about me being 17? This concept of accepting change has been so difficult over the years. Like time, and death, change is also inevitable and therefore completely out of our control. Guess who likes control? This girl. This past year has been a challenging journey for me on many levels and rolling with the changes has been the name of the game. Sometimes, I think I stepped up to the plate and other times, I decided to just snuggle up in whatever space was available and call it a day. Through it all though I’ve tried to remember that our paths are unexpected and none of them look alike and even though we may think we “should” be here or there, we actually just are. And that’s a-ok. So today, I’m celebrating a moment of change that I’m pretty dang excited about. It was my first day at a new job. It was a long road to get here, but I’m here for it! Haven’t felt this buzz in my belly in almost 7 years and its got me pretty stoked. Here’s to new beginnings. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I’m not going to give up photography, but I am going to approach it differently and pare back a bit to make room for more creativity during sessions. If you’d like to book something for the fall, I’ve got dates available for family sessions at the link in the profile. And if you’re down in Pioneer Square often, let’s do lunch. ❤️
This time last week. Wait, how was this a week ago? Oh @melliott930 - let’s go back! 💃✨🥂🌮☀️ #thistexasmakesmecrazy
When one of your portrait subjects allows you to discuss dinosaurs and then graces you with the best reaction.
The cocktails at this wedding were pro. 🥃
Dear evening window light. Of all the lights out there, and I've known some, you might be my favorite. 🥂
