Are you ready to take the leap?⠀ ⠀ To create major change, you have to take a leap of faith. The bigger the leap you take, the bigger the potential result.⠀ ⠀ Now this isn’t suggesting you get crazy and put yourself or anyone else into physical or financial harm by quitting your job and packing up your car, changing your name and moving across country — I've seen plenty of people do that and it rarely works out easily (though it does eventually work out!).⠀ ⠀ No, what I'm referring to here is those terrifying internal deep-dive leaps of reclaiming ourselves that can catapult us into a new existence.⠀ ⠀ Being brave enough to go into the darkest, scariest parts of ourselves that need healing the most.⠀ ⠀ Feeling those feelings that we avoid at all costs through distractions, medications, addictions, etc.⠀ ⠀ The deeper you dive into your internal underworld, the higher you can soar once you reemerge.⠀ ⠀ Traveling into the underworld is a recurring theme in ancient mythologies from all over the world: The hero ventures into the world below and returns with their true love (like Orpheus and Eurydice), a prize they sought, or greater knowledge. These fables are told as inspiration, guiding us to take those big leaps so we can reap the big rewards.⠀ ⠀ Are you ready to take that leap inside yourself? “Follow your intuition.” It’s advice that gets thrown around a lot, but many of us have no idea how to actually do it.⠀ ⠀ The problem is, most of us spend all day inside our heads — and that’s not where our intuition lives!⠀ ⠀ Allowing the feelings in your body to guide you is how you learn to follow your intuition. Think of it like a kind of internal GPS that you were born with. Once you learn to recognize your intuition (or “gut feeling”), it will never steer you wrong.⠀ ⠀ Sometimes you may get a good or bad feeling about something that you can’t necessarily explain or doesn’t seem logical. There’s a reason people say “trust your gut” — the body often knows what the mind does not!⠀ ⠀ It's actually our natural way of operating, but most of us have been conditioned out of it. We've been told to think with our heads our whole lives and we ignore what we're feeling in in our bodies.⠀ ⠀ So how do we get tuned back into our gut feelings? The first step is identifying and removing things from our lives that are dragging us down.⠀ ⠀ Are there Instagram accounts that make you feel bad about yourself? Unfollow them. Friends that only call you to complain and share their latest drama? A project at work that’s draining you? Do you work to shift internally and if no external shifts happen then consider releasing. ⠀ When you start clearing out all the junk that’s keeping you stuck and tuning into what makes you feel ALIVE, you’ll begin to be able to recognizing feelings inside your body and what they’re telling you.⠀ ⠀ The more you drop what’s weighing you down and open up space, the more your intuition will kick in loud and clear!⠀ ⠀ ✨When’s the last time your intuition told you something? Focus on your next step.⠀ ⠀ During times of crisis, we often spend a lot of time sitting around wondering what we can do and how we can change the world.⠀ ⠀ In times like these we can get information fatigue and feel extremely overwhelmed — it can be dizzying and even crippling, especially if you’re an empath.⠀ ⠀ In my experience, the best thing to do in this situation is to give yourself space. While we all need to be taking action, we need to make sure that action is being taken from a loving space, not a space of fear.⠀ ⠀ So take the space to look internally and get clear: Are any past traumas coming up for you? Are prejudices you didn’t even know you had showing themselves? Identify what’s going on internally so you can work through it — then you’ll be in a better place to determine how you can use your own skills and resources to take the most effective action.⠀ ⠀ My mentors @hendricks.gay and Katie Hendricks taught me that you don’t have to think of a huge action to create change; you can simply start with the next action step that’s within your reach.⠀ ⠀ You don’t have to change the world all by yourself; we do that together as a collective. In life many experiences happen especially when you were with someone for 26 years- ups, downs and all arounds. The black and white version is that I am forever grateful @hectorbatizstudios for your fathering of the 3 epic humans that somehow have journeyed this life by our sides and created a family. Your loyalty is one of top warriors. Your compassion and openness is one of zen masters. Your childlike joy is one of Disney creatives. Your love and kindness is of saints. Those qualities combined make the most epic father figure. Thank you isn’t enough for all the gifts you’ve given to our family just by your loving presence alone. Forever you will remain the patriarch, the rock and glue of our family- space and distance can’t stop that. You’ve proven that love is stronger than anything. Happy Father’s Day Hector. Chaos creates change.⠀ ⠀ No matter what your perspective, we’re undeniably in a period of massive change and during this shift we need to feel the feelings deeply… but we also need to express as boldly and as big as we can. ⠀ ⠀ Remember during these times of chaos that your participation can be not only in protest, making donations, speaking up on social media and being active in your community, but also expressing through your creativity: poetry, writing, song, dance, painting, drawing, whatever your art form may be. ⠀ ⠀ It’s amazing to see the huge outpouring of creative energy that’s manifesting in so many different ways right now, including street art, protest signs and murals. There are so many ways to participate in creating change and creating memories that will remain.⠀ ⠀ Who knows what art will emerge? The point is to keep expressing and to always keep the energy flowing.⠀ ⠀ Over here we’ve been creating a lot of poetry and music to put into the world. Here’s a poem I wrote the other night…⠀ ⠀ The battles that no one’s ever seen⠀ ⠀ I lived my whole life in silence⠀ A tongue restrained⠀ A throat blocked⠀ Both sets of lips held tight⠀ ⠀ Betrayals and violence that I let slide⠀ Speaking up meant I was wrong⠀ Now I scream inside with deafening tones⠀ That come out at inopportune times⠀ A voice once silenced is looking for a language with which to describe⠀ The secrecy once held deep inside⠀ ⠀ A freedom fighter in disguise⠀ Fighting silent wars inside⠀ Battle scars etched in my mind⠀ While rolling downhill through time⠀ ⠀ I wake in this dream⠀ ⠀ What are you creating in the world today?⠀ ⠀ 📸: @dustinthomasxo at @silomusictv

Real change requires immense effort.⠀ ⠀ I’ve see many people over the past 3 weeks exerting tremendous energy in the effort to make change, and I’ve watched many others judging those efforts.⠀ ⠀ What I know personally about transformation is that It takes an immense amount of energy to change directions. You have to exert a whole lot of energy to make a change when you’re caught up in the inertia of a pattern. It’s especially difficult to pull yourself out of the “emotional gravity of darkness” (@mariannewilliamson quote). You have to fight even harder for freedom from darkness. ⠀ So while some of you may think the protests or some of the conversations being had right now are extreme, they’re exactly what needs to happen for real change to occur. It will take all of our collaborative, concentrated force and effort to create real change in our society and break away from patterns we’ve been caught up in for hundreds of years.⠀ ⠀ This is how change happens. The deeper the groove we’re in, the more effort it takes to get out of it.⠀ ⠀ Change can happen and it will happen with a lot of energy, arm in arm moving forward. With privilege comes great responsibility.⠀ ⠀ This morning my friend @rbatrice was telling me about @richardbranson: “He’s the one who told me privilege comes with responsibility — that the dice in the other direction would have meant a different life for him, and he takes his responsibility to the planet and her citizens very seriously.”⠀ ⠀ That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling the past 3 weeks as Black people fight for the most basic of human rights. The fact is while I’ve had a tough life, I am a white woman and that comes with privilege. It’s simply not enough to make donations, sign petitions and post on social media about where I stand.⠀ ⠀ I’ve been scanning my body my life, my beliefs and my practices (as well as my company's practices) to see where my focus can move the needle in a big way.⠀ ⠀ Some big ideas have emerged and I’ve been lobbying behind the scenes. I can’t take back the privilege I was born with, but I can use it to lift others up. The equality needle must be moved and we’ve only just begun.⠀ ⠀ It’s not only important for us all to act, but to act within our genius. I'm a very fast mover, so trying to work within a system that’s very sluggish and might take a decade isn't the best use of my genius; I’m looking at where can I immediately go to work so that my particular skills can be used to their optimal effectiveness. I'm pooling my resources and making connections to lift others up. I’m putting my focus into action toward permanent and sustained change. ⠀ ⠀ I am 100% clear this is a pivotal, historic moment. What is ours to do must be done right now.⠀Leverage your genius to provide a leg up for the many that don’t have this.
