Yesterday we had no snow. Nada. Then last evening it started! And in less than 24 hours, we now have 15”! This is the folly gate at the herb/cutting garden out the kitchen window. And look 👀 it’s a Christmas miracle🤣... the antique gate was FINALLY (6-1/2 years on the to-do list) set with antique granite posts late fall!!! #yaydan #christmasmiracle #miraclesdohappen😆#yesvirginathereisasantaclause #thebluehour #sixmoreinchesofsnowtonight #thankgoodnessforbigblue #thisiswhywemovedhere #soquiet #sobeautiful #winterwonderland #winterinnewengland #girlsatealldoingwellandhealingnicely #weeklychiropractorvisitsandmassageappointmentsarekeepingusgoingcarryinglouiseupanddownstairs😥
I think the “Girl with a Pearl Earring” is Bunny reincarnate!!! I can’t tell you how many times a day I get this side look from Bunny Williams W.- Ross🐶 @bunnys_eye and all I can see is the beautiful face of the Dutch painting , c.1665 by Johannes Vermeer. Do you see it, or am I just crazy?!!! 🤔😜🤣Bunny is being amazingly calm in spite of not going for her daily walk because of her heartworm treatment, and Louise is recovering v v well, starting to put weight on her surgery knee. We are just over one week post ❤️🐛injection/TPLO surgery and all including- Dan and I -are doing well!!! Happy weekend! Be well❤️
Sweet Louise just wanted to sit in a favorite spot in the little bit of sun we had this morning and guard the back hill❤️ Dan’s been doing all the carrying of Louise and taking her out to try and potty. I’m upstairs and I look out the master bath window and see him sitting with Louise loving on her and just being with her in her favorite place❤️❤️❤️ #sweetdaddy #myhearts #sweetdan #hesthebestdaddy #33degrees #thegirlsadoretheirdaddy #mybackthanksyou #mighthavetogiveyoumymassageapptontuesday #42poundsofpuppylove#upanddownantiquestairs #thismustbewhypeoplegetsmallerdogsastheyage🥴 #louiseisbeingaPERFECTpatient
Sweet baby girl Louise❤️ in her soft cast (that comes off on Monday) and her shaved booty and arms. She looks very hip and cool 😎! At the vet they wrote on the wrap on her leg “Louise” with a ❤️ dotting the “i” in Louise! So sweet. When we were leaving with both girls last night one of the vets said “Your girls are so sweet and well behaved.” Music to this mama’s ears🥰 Both she and Bunny are doing great!! We are all figuring out this temporary new normal and how to maneuver and adjust. So happy to have the pack back together and feeling all nesting and nurturing. Just want to hunker down and get all my babies healed. #grateful #takingitslowandtryingtoembracethemoment #sistersarebeingsolovingandrespectfultoLouise #louisestillwaggingallthetime #puppyangels #dogsareproofthatgodlovesyou #heavenonearth #adoptnevershop #1835dogsarekilledeverydayofeverymonthintheyear #spayandneutersaveslives #rescue #adopt #foster #donate
Bunny (check out those bunny 🐰 ears in the first photo😍) and sweet Louise (second) are at the vet today through tomorrow. Dan and I are feeling off balance with half of our pack not with us😢. Bunny had her heartworm injection and is resting and doing well. Louise just got out of surgery for her ACL tear and everything went well 🙏 However they did not operate on her knee I told you about last time. Why??? Because 2 days ago SHE TORE HER ACL IN HER OTHER KNEE😱. I kid you not. It’s rare, but it happens😩 Her orthopedic surgeon said the new tear hurt her the most between the two because she also tore her medial meniscus- poor baby😥 The surgeon says the average dog has a 18/19/20 degree angle in their knee, but Louise is at 27 degrees😵 which could account (though no one knows for sure) to the double tears as it puts more stress on the knee joints. The vet office told me to call as often as I want to check on them and I said just put me on speaker all day🤣 You should have seen their “luggage” I took in for them for one overnight stay😜. We have new large crates with new bedding upstairs and down and just bought a @help_em_up_harness Thank you all so much for your words of advice (so, so helpful) and encouragement (so kind)! I’m not so worried about crating and keeping Louise calm for months while she heals (next surgery will be in January if she is healing well; earlier if she is in pain on the remaining ACL year- reasoning being you want the leg to heal as long as you can before it becomes the support leg) but zoomie-loving pit bull mix Bunny🐰 ??? Ohmygosh I don’t know how we’re gonna keep that silly billy still, but we will🥴 cuz we have to. Thank you again for all your puppy love and prayers and for all your great advice😘. xxoj.
I am very excited to invite you to a pop-up shop I am hosting from my friend, designer and artist, Artie Vanderpool !! I am honored that this beautiful collection was inspired by the farmhouse and our property. Artie has been our guest and seen the farmhouse in person. Artie's works are about movement and color. He paints with feelings, starting with abstract line making and moving into broad and energetic brushwork. His paintings have a rhythm and conversation. What you see in a painting is what the painting can be for you. Many pieces are signed on the back allowing for framing options in either horizontal or vertical display. These are original paintings at price points for every collector. Prices start at $35. Swipe➡️ for just a sampling of the beautiful paintings being offered in this pop-up. We are in the season so keep in mind that art makes for a fabulous Christmas/Hanukkah present! To purchase please go to Artie's blog page LINK IN PROFILE ! (Fair Warning... Artie's pieces go fast and I mean FAST, so if a piece speaks to you do not dally as you don't want you to lose out on owning one of his paintings. Also note that simply putting a painting in your cart does not make it yours. The first person to actually purchase the piece gets it.) Pop-up runs through Wednesday, November 13. Whether you are buying fabulous paintings for yourself, or as a gift, you are also helping to support animal rescue- win/win!! Artie and I are both native Texans💗 so he has chosen to give back 10% of all sales to CCPAL (Cowboy Capital Pet Assistant League) a no-kill, 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization just outside of my hometown of San Antonio, in Bandera County Texas. CCPAL pulls dogs, most on euthanasia lists, from high-kill shelters and city pounds in and around San Antonio. My dear friend, Alice Lang, volunteers to get these sweet souls adopted to families all over the country. Please take a look at some of their sweet souls on the sidebar of my blog. Now go buy some art!!!
Art makes me happy! Every time I look at my bedside table filled with my favorite things my heart races a bit! That’s the magic of living with things you love❤️ A new favorite is the small painting done by my friend, Artie Vanderpool, @artie.vanderpool on an antique envelope. Artie happened to show me several pieces he had just completed and when I saw this one my heart went “thunk “and it was true love💗 I asked him if it could be mine... please!! As I was fawning over it I thought it would look good on my bedside table next to an antique oil painting I had there, but had no idea just how perfect these two pieces of art would look together💗 It’s as if they were made for each other. I framed it in an acrylic frame to keep it simple and your focus on the painting. Swipe to see another fabulous painting Artie did that I have placed in the reading room. I am excited to host a pop-up shop tomorrow featuring a collection that Artie did which was “inspired” by the colors and energy of the farmhouse and property. Artie has even been to the farmhouse himself! Come back to my IG tomorrow, November 11 @12 noon EST to see and hear the deets on how you too can be the proud collector of a painting(s) by Artie!
We didn’t get a snowflake of our expected first snow of the season. Sweet Louise was born to be a farm dog! She is the sweetest, gentlest, most grateful dog I have known. God gave her that long nose and she uses it to gently lift your hand to pet her if you have an idle 🖐 🤣. She loves to be petted and will let you pet her all day! She loves people. She loves all dogs too, but has never been a “play girl” but she LOVES for her sisters to chase her! Louise was in an outdoor shelter in Denham Springs @denhamspringsanimalshelter for A YEAR AND A HALF when I found her on @petfinder and fell for her gorgeous butterscotch eyes. (think almost daily thunderstorms and lightning in summer) I thought it would be sweet to adopt a dog in Louisiana and name her Louise. After I caught my breath after seeing her photo I looked down and I’ll be damned- her name was already”Louise” #stillgivesmechills #meanttobe (Link in bio to story of how we adopted her &Magnolia (TX) on the SAME day!) Louise guards and protects us from any animal walking through the top of the hill! She’ll sit for hours on alert, and lucky for her she is often rewarded and will run barking to the fence and stops. She could go thru but she doesn’t. She runs like the wind and I swear has some greyhound in her. She LOVES to run fast around the property. Sadly😢 on Monday she ruptured her cranial crucial ligament (tore her ACL) and next week goes in for TPLO surgery. We told the vet to do whatever it takes to get our girl running again. Ironically it is the same day that Bunny goes in for her heartworm injection to kill the adult heartworms she has in her heart. They will both stay overnight in side by side cages ❤️which brings a bit of comfort to this very anxious mama🥺 Then a month of NO activity for Bunny and several months for Louise😩 We will have our own little infirmary here⛑💊🤕 Vet said this injury is very common in dogs. If you’ve experienced it please share any advice😘 The last 3 pics are Louise in the shelter the day we met her. To this day she is terrified of thunderstorms (she has a thundershirt but she still shivers and shakes😢)and gunshots as the shelter was in a very rural part of town by a train track and I’m sure there were lots of shots going off at nite.
