I love seeing Ethan enjoying books even at eleven months old. My own mom instilled a love of reading and writing that I hope I can pass down to the boys. I’ve always loved reading. When I was a toddler, I enjoyed cookie dough while reading my first chapter book, which forever solidified my love of both items. My one true talent is reading fast. I love all kinds of books, but I’m an avid reader of women’s fiction, thrillers, non-fiction, and suspense. Now I'm writing in those same categories. What's your favorite genre to read and/or write? #bookstagram #bookblogger #bookstagrammer#bookishview #bibliophile #bookreview #noexit#bookphotography #bookstagramreviews #bibliophile #librarybook #thrillerbooks #irlnetworking #writingcommunity#bookaddiction#bookblogger #bookcommunity #booknerdigans#bookrecommendation#currentlyreading #epicreads #igbooks#igreads #instareader #womensfiction#womenwriters #writingcommunity#girlssupportgirls #authorssupportauthors #writingfriend

#writingcommunity, what's your best trick for writing when you're not in the mood? For #writerwednesday I'm sharing mine, syndicated yesterday in @thriveglobal. Most of us don’t have to write. Thus it’s easy to throw it into the important-but-not-urgent pile along with exercise, meditation, and the dirty socks. For many years, I’d claim I planned to write books. Someday. When? Was I waiting for someone to knock on my door and say “you should write a book.” Or maybe I was waiting to get in the mood. It took me a decade to figure out “mood” is largely irrelevant. That we may never be in the mood to do most things worth doing. The trick is to just do them anyway. So I did.I started by going small; committing to writing one page. Then I wrote a scene. Before long I had amassed 50k words of compete drivel. It was about a generation ship that takes off with half of earth’s surviving population, leaving the rest to certain doom. Oh, and the leader of those left behind managed to control the population with an addictive hallucinogenic and RFID chips. Yup. It was bad. Half a star at best. Here were a few of the technical problems besides the terrible plot:The genre didn’t exist, for one. The entire thing was backstory. It was short by about half. And the kicker. It didn’t…like…make sense. You get the point. But after I realized it didn’t matter, I kept going. Here are the steps I used that you can try yourself in link: Photo by Andrew Neel on Unsplash #bookstagram #bookblogger #bookstagrammer#bookishview #bibliophile #bookreview #noexit#bookphotography #bookstagramreviews #bibliophile #librarybook #thrillerbooks #bookaddiction#bookblogger #bookcommunity #booknerdigans#bookrecommendation#currentlyreading #epicreads #igbooks#igreads #instareader #womensfiction#womenwriters #writingcommunity#girlssupportgirls #authorssupportauthors #writingfriend

I woke up at 3:30 a.m., started reading All In on my phone, and stayed up to finish. Here's why: Everything in author Cami's life looks beautiful. She's young, successful, and on the cusp of being a really big deal. But there's this thing. A few things actually... This book surprised me in the best of ways. It was like this: you're browsing Netflix and settle in for something that looks mild and not-provocative. But halfway through you're on an emotional roller coaster yelling at the screen: Hello, Netflix? This description is canceled. Write a new one immediately. In all seriousness, Cami's journey was raw and real and much grittier than what I'd expect to see shelved in the Women's Christian Fiction section. Let author L.K. Simonds pull you into Cami's world. You wont be disappointed. Thanks to #netgalley and #morganjamespublishing for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed Husband Material. I thought this book was going to be much more chic-lit but it had much more depth. My bad for not reading the description well enough! But once I dug in I was here for it. The author does a good job with the subject of grief, lightening potential heaviness with colorful characters and a slow-burn romance. Twenty-nine-year-old Charlotte Rosen has a secret: she’s a widow. Ever since the fateful day that leveled her world, Charlotte has worked hard to move forward. Great job at a hot social media analytics company? Check. Roommate with no knowledge of her past? Check. Adorable dog? Check. All the while, she’s faithfully data-crunched her way through life, calculating the probability of risk—so she can avoid it. Yet Charlotte’s algorithms could never have predicted that her late husband’s ashes would land squarely on her doorstep five years later. Stunned but determined, Charlotte sets out to find meaning in this sudden twist of fate, even if that includes facing her perfectly coiffed, and perfectly difficult, ex-mother-in-law—and her husband’s best friend, who seems to become a fixture at her side whether she likes it or not. But soon a shocking secret surfaces, forcing Charlotte to answer questions she never knew to ask and to consider the possibility of forgiveness. And when a chance at new love arises, she’ll have to decide once and for all whether to follow the numbers or trust her heart. I enjoyed The Girl Before You. First off, it's tough to pull off three POVS + past present, but the author weaves them seamlessly. This was a slow burn and had enough twists and turns to keep experienced thriller readers guessing. I would recommend checking it out. She was his. She was perfect. And then, she was gone.An addictive and twisting psychological suspense, perfect for summer. If you liked My Lovely Wife, you’ll love this.Alice has always been haunted by the women from her husband’s past. As a politician and now a TV personality, George Bell’s reputation as a ladies’ man precedes him. But when Alice falls pregnant, her unease becomes an obsession. And there’s one ex in particular she can’t get out of her head, a beautiful student who went missing before they finished university: Ruth. When Alice thinks she see Ruth on a train, she can’t shake the feeling there’s more to the disappearance than George has told her. But does she really want to know what her husband has been up to behind her back all these years? The years after you is a poignant look at how relationships are never simple. It's easy to label things as black and white, right and wrong. It's easier to. Synopsis: An affair. Wife, mistress, the man in the middle. Laugh it off only to lie awake worrying later. Is this really happening? When it implodes, what then? The assistant didn’t mean to fall in love and become “the other woman.” The wife was just venturing her first steps into life beyond the roles of mother and partner when her suspicions about another woman took root. When the well-respected man sinks deeper into mental illness, each person’s next move isn’t a question of blame alone, but of the ethics of love—of unapologetic decisions and confronting the aftermath.Juxtaposing the minute and sweeping effects of life after tragedy, The Years After You explores the complicated dance of intimacy and relationships in the tradition of Emily Giffin (All We Ever Wanted) and Anne Tyler (Clock Dance). Thank You #netgalley for letting me read #theyearsafteryou by @emmawoolf1. 5 stars! This was something a little different. First off, what a hook. After the first two pages, I was there for it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then I wasn't sure about the characters, but the strength of the beginning kept me trucking along. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Was glad I waited, because the story went places I never expected. Definitely worth checking out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Synopsis: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Two years ago, Paige Wilson watched helplessly as her brother Ryan was shot, right on her doorstep. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He survived the attack, but never fully recovered from the trauma. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stuck in a wheelchair, Ryan refuses to accept the life of a paraplegic. His idea of fun is coming up with new ways to torment Paige, who has sacrificed her own happiness to care for him. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He feels she's responsible for what happened to him that night, and he's determined to make her life a living hell. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Pushed to her limits, Paige wants to turn her back on her brother's abuse, but when she finally takes steps toward getting her life back, tragedy strikes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One day she's walking toward her freedom, and the next, she's on the run. A terrible crime has been committed and she might be in danger. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She finds safety and a new life in the small town of Faypine, Maine. But someone knows her hiding place, and they are determined to use her secrets to tear her world apart. What are you reading this week? I'm about to dive into Wicked River by @jennymilchman I met Jenny at the @atlantawritersclub conference last week where she gave an amazing talk on author branding and career strategy. Have you read it? Six million acres of Adirondack forest separate Natalie and Doug Larson from civilization. For the newlyweds, an isolated, back country honeymoon seems ideal: a chance to start their lives together with an adventure, on their own. But just as Natalie and Doug begin to explore the dark interiors of their own hearts, as well as the depths of their love for each other, it becomes clear that they are not alone in the woods. Because six million acres makes it easy for the wicked to hide. And even easier for someone to go missing for good. As they struggle with the worst the wilderness has to offer, a man watches them, wielding the forest like a weapon. And once they are near his domain, he will do everything in his power to make sure they never walk out again. #bookstagram #bookblogger #bookstagrammer#bookishview #bibliophile #bookreview #noexit#bookphotography #bookstagramreviews #bibliophile #librarybook #thrillerbooks #atlantawriters #irlnetworking #bookaddiction#bookblogger #bookcommunity #booknerdigans#bookrecommendation#currentlyreading #epicreads #igbooks#igreads #instareader #womensfiction#womenwriters #writingcommunity#girlssupportgirls #authorssupportauthors #writingfriend
