#covid19 cases are surging. 🦠 Everyone can help slow the spread by wearing a #mask CORRECTLY. 😷 Thank you to the @cdcgov for making this visual which shows how NOT to wear a mask & the correct way to do so. 👏🏽 As far as I’ve seen in the research, the Throat Protector & Everything But The Tip Nose Show styles will never be effective. 🤦🏻♀️ #wearamask #stopcovid19 #coveryourmouth #coveryournose #pleasepleaseplease

🚨 You can be fired for what you post on #socialmedia as a #healthcare worker 🚨 • This is 💯 true & is happening every day. Let me do a quick breakdown on how & why: 🖊 When you are hired at a #healthcare facility of almost any size, you most likely signed a bunch of paperwork for HR which included a policy or clause called either the “Employee Code of Conduct” or the “Professional Policy Clause” or even a “Social Media Policy”. This document, whatever the title, will basically state that you agree to be professional in your conduct on & off the job & that you will not make statements/comments/posts that will reflect poorly on or go against the values of your new employer. 🤝 This document represents your acknowledgment of this expectation & agreement to act within the outlined professional guidelines from your employer.📱💻 If you then post/comment online or speak on camera, even on your PERSONAL accounts & speaking on your PERSONAL opinions, if it is found by your employer, or more likely reported by someone else who finds it offensive, your employer can use it as grounds for remediation, punitive measures, or termination if the content is found to go against any of your employer’s professional rules outlined in their policies. ☹️ Offensive content can be written comments, photos, videos, memes (yes memes), or really anything that can be posted as digital media. 🚫 Sometimes employers are wrong when making determinations about what is “unprofessional” conduct, so read your policies carefully to know what is and not allowed but know that those policies are kept vague on purpose to be a catch all for a wide variety of potential offending content or actions. • 🧠 So be smart when you’re posting. 👀 Watch for others & know you can report them if it’s abusive or inappropriate. 💛 Be kind. Remember: You’re always representing #nurses & other #healthcare workers everywhere. 💯 @newthingnurse #professionalism #onlineetiquette #nursing #bekind.
