Oh me? Oh my! . . . What am I gonna do with you pretty roses??? . . A 'New' introduction since 2018, just more available to us in the landscape industry recently... . This is rosa 'grace-n-grit' . @monroviaplants @monroviagrowers . Heat tolerant, disease resistant, yes please! . . Someone's gonna get a modern updated garden soon! . . Not a fan of red roses, but have to admit, I've been smitten with this lady! . . . The captain is sea In the moonlight the same The ship all himself Rose Spitter, the name A high mutiny Submerged down and under Shake-shack left you in shock Shed poison with a lover's lock All hands wound and fraught Blow the dark that we thought Oo-oh (I spit roses) Oo-oh (I spit) Shake-shack, ring the bell Pretty, petty, they shall swell Swell kid-like, kid-like squeak Was it a trick or was it treat? Oo-oh (I spit roses) Oo-oh (I spit) The captain is sea In the moonlight the same Reflex us and him He blurts karma, no sin The tall one astute The ginger all things To all men he's kind A split heart from mind I spit roses and thank Oh, the boat we thought sank I spit roses (Oo-oh) I spit roses (Oo-oh) I spit roses (Oo-oh) I spit roses (Oo-oh) I spit roses (Oo-oh) I spit roses Roses I spit roses I spit roses (Wall to wall, pillar to post) (I'm back at the task, the task, that I love most) Roses (Wall to wall, pillar to post) (I'm back at the task, the task, that I love most) Roses (I'm back at the task, the task that I love most) Roses I Spit Roses' -------+++Song by Peter Murphy

Tree work...a must overtime!! . . . I find many times, clients forget to look-up and see how trees have become overgrown overtime. . Trees tend to grow over your house, car, shed, and carry a lot of weight in risk of falling on your property, during a big thunderstorm, hurricane or even a tornado, as we have seen recently in our area in Connecticut. . Time to do tree work, to make everything on the ground safe and out of harm's way. . Allow your house to breathe and dry out. . Trees over a house may cause ants, termites, mold and/or dampness to occur. . I always suggest to clients, whatever you take down, you can always replant, but I can help choose the right plant for that spot. . A tree that becomes overgrown, cause it is in the wrong spot, will become a problem overtime in your yard.

Molto Bellissimo!! . . . Multiple sized...Pizza ovens! with built-in woodbin, on wheels too!! . . A perfect addition to your new patio, or outdoor kitchen! . . . Tutti a tavolo a mangiare!” doesn't just mean “come and eat.” It means “come together.” Don't just bring your appetite to the table; bring your day, your thoughts, your happiness, your sadness. Bring your life to the table and share it. . The art of preparing good food – Italian or otherwise – is an act of love. The cook – the good cook, anyway – does more than just throw a few ingredients into a pot. There is an outpouring of creative energy, of time spent planning and preparing. There is a thoughtfulness and care that goes on each and every plate. A well-prepared meal set on a well-prepared table is the ultimate act of love expressed by the cook toward the family and friends – or even complete strangers – for whom the meal is prepared and the table set. It is an expression of an artist's soul. And you're gonna tell me, “just a minute?” You're gonna tell me that my time and effort and love are worth less than your watching some damn TV show or something? Not in my world. . In my world, as in the Italian world in general, the call to the dinner table is inviolate. It's like a call to prayer. It's an invitation to come together as a family and share the dance of life. When the pasta hits the table, the butts hit the chairs and the dance begins. To say something like, “I'll be there in a minute” is the ultimate insult. It is a rude, classless way of saying, “I don't care about the time you put in or the money you spent. I don't care about your effort or your feelings. I don't care about being a part of the whole. I've got more important things to do.” It's not done in an Italian family and it shouldn't be tolerated in any family. . Tutti a tavolo a mangiare, amare, ridere, e di essere una famiglia!” Everybody come to the table to eat, laugh, love, and be a family. Enjoy the food then sit back and enjoy the company. Savor the experience and appreciate life. That's the Italian way of eating. . https://ronjamesitaliankitchen.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-italian-way-of-eating-everybody.html

Yellow flowers are so cheerful! . . . Flowers . . They have no mouth, but seem to speak A thousand words so mild and meek. They have no eyes , but seem to see And bury thoughts into me. They have no ears, but seem to hear All my cries, my every tear. They have no arms, but seem to pat When with worries my heart is fat. They have no feet, but seem to walk Along with me in my dreams and talk. They, I know, are the flowers so nice That spread their fragrance a million miles. Grow a few and then you'll know How your life is fresh and new. With a smile so broad, I thank my God, Whose work to imagine is really too hard. ------++++Pearlyn Published: February 2015

Suddenly Summer Summer comes slowly to the northern shore, Spring’s pale promises are brought to the fore As branches of birch renew, glorified, Green the paper-white trunks in dress once more. Delicate blooms marking summer’s return, Layers of lupine are backlit by fern, Now is their moment, they lift to the sky; Be fruitful and flower, quickly they’ve learned. White ladies on horses ride in the bay, Summer’s strong rainstorms are having their say, Pine trees and poplar bend down in response, Dark waves crash heavy as thunderheads pray. E’en I gaze across summer’s blue water, Reveling in beauty, Gemini’s daughter; A fawn draws close, stumbling as she nears, Etched in gold light, the sunshine has caught her. Summer comes slowly to this northern land, All the more grateful we welcome its stand, In laughter and joy we live day by day; Suddenly summer, she makes no demand. -----+++Deb Radke | 2018

Happy Summer Solstice! . . . Yes, it is here already....Summertime! . . Check this video I found peeps doing yoga in Times Square... On Youtube: . https://youtu.be/8ove3iETENw . . . . My favorite way to celebrate Summer Solstice....is with Paul Winter, no pun intended! . . . A seven-time Grammy Award-winner, he is recognized as one of the pioneers of the world music genre, and also for his genre of “earth music,” which interweaves the voices of the greater symphony of the wild with instrumental voices from classical, jazz and world music traditions. . . Check his live Solstice celebration on his property in the Litchfield Hills, as his daughter walks through the woods, along a stream and leads to their barn, whilst he plays his beautiful sax! . . . Paul Winter (born August 31, 1939) is an American saxophonist, composer and bandleader. . The music is often improvised, and recorded in natural acoustic spaces, to reflect the qualities and instincts brought into play by the environment. With his various ensembles—the Paul Winter Sextet, the Paul Winter Consort, and the Earth Band—he has recorded more than 40 albums, and performed in 52 countries and six continents. . . During the 1970s, Winter became involved in the movement to bring awareness of humpback whales and their extraordinary music to the world. . in the album Whales Alive! , with actor Leonard Nimoy, It realized a long-standing dream shared by Payne and Winter to create an entire album of music based on melodies by whales. . In 1978 Winter released Common Ground an album that combined his music and animal sounds (Wolves, Eagles, Whales). . He has made recordings in the Grand Canyon, with it's natural acoustic resonance. . In Brazil, he has recorded with near extinct birds of the rainforest. . Looking into the eyes of the wolf Paul Winter was inspired to write his piece “Wolf Eyes.” . It presented the lyrical voice of the wolf, and a different, gentle, image of a creature so long misunderstood and vilified by humans. . . . Here's the link to his performance, on YouTube, early this morning as the sun came up. Today is the longest day of the year! . https://youtu.be/H8toACrsLN8

Nature's own floral designer! . . . I found a dimpled spider, fat and white, On a white heal-all, holding up a moth Like a white piece of rigid satin cloth-- Assorted characters of death and blight Mixed ready to begin the morning right, Like the ingredients of a witches' broth-- A snow-drop spider, a flower like a froth, And dead wings carried like a paper kite. What had that flower to do with being white, The wayside blue and innocent heal-all? What brought the kindred spider to that height, Then steered the white moth thither in the night? What but design of darkness to appall?-- If design govern in a thing so small. . . 'Design' . . Robert Frost - 1874-1963

Rose is a rose is a rose, is it? . . . The line is from Gertrude Stein's poem Sacred Emily, written in 1913 and published in 1922, in Geography and Plays. The verbatim line is actually, 'Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose': Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose Loveliness extreme. Extra gaiters, Loveliness extreme. Sweetest ice-cream. Pages ages page ages page ages. When asked what she meant by the line, Stein said that in the time of Homer, or of Chaucer, the poet could use the name of the thing and the thing was really there. As memory took it over, the thing lost its identity, and she was trying to recover that - I think in that line the rose is red for the first time in English poetry for a hundred years. Stein was certainly fond of the line and used variants of it in several of her works: - Do we suppose that all she knows is that a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose. (Operas and Plays) - ... she would carve on the tree Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose until it went all the way around. (The World is Round) - A rose tree may be a rose tree may be a rosy rose tree if watered. (Alphabets and Birthdays) - Indeed a rose is a rose makes a pretty plate. Hmmmm! Me thinks you got to Call us! . This is a Wise owl approved message. . . . In Western culture, owls are synonymous with wisdom and knowledge. You notice it in childhood stories like Winnie the Pooh and college mascots like the Temple Owls. Cartoon owls wearing caps and gowns appear on graduation cards, and owls in reading spectacles are regularly spotted on signs for libraries and bookstores. In Greek and Roman mythology, owls were associated with education, intellect and magic, probably because of their wide eyes, solemn expression and ability to see through darkness. But are owls actually wise? As it turns out, not so much. Their nocturnal habits and swift, silent flight make them seem mysterious, and they are certainly well-adapted for hunting small creatures in low light, but when it comes to measurable intelligence, owls have very small brains proportionate to their body size, and they are less trainable than crows, hawks, parrots or pigeons. In fact, most owls can't be trained to do simple tasks Interestingly, in India, an owl is considered dumb and empty-headed, due to its tendency to sit and stare blankly into space. In fact, the Hindi word for owl, which is oolu, is also used as a gently derogatory term meaning dolt or fool Someone hanging around without doing anything useful might be said to be sitting around like an owl. https://animals.howstuffworks.com/animal-facts/10-wildly-wrong-animal-stereotypes7.htm

Just wish you guys could smell this pretty tree! . . . AMAZING! Deliciously sweet smell of Styrax japonica 'evening light' (Japanese snowbell tree) . A new variety I stumbled upon this week, with the beautiful red leaved foliage, a stunner guys! . . . Styrax japonicus the Japanese Snowbell, is a species of flowering plant in the family Styracaceae, native to China, Japan and Korea. Growing to 12 m (39 ft) tall by 8 m (26 ft) broad, it is a graceful, spreading deciduous tree with oval, upward-facing leaves which occasionally turn yellow or orange before falling in autumn. Masses of slightly fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers hang from the branches in summer, followed by fruits (drupes) which resemble olives in both shape and colour. . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Styrax_japonicus

Booooommm! Goes the dy·na·mite! . . . So sexy are you? . . Boom shakalaka...boom...boom! . . . I used to believe that my soul purpose is to help people, then I realised I couldn't do that without the help of a few. But now I know, that my soul purpose... Is actually you. I say forever and I mean forever, regardless of what might happen in life, I'm manifesting something, and it might seem like we're in strife. But I'm ensuring that I'm the one you won't need to leave to find, baby I'll do anything in this universe for you, because you're so special that you literally blow mind. You blow my mind in a way that makes me see every aspect of who I am, which allows me to address my negative traits instilled from my fam. I first thought that I was wanting to create chaos with everything going so well between us, because that's what I've always been exposed too. But I know I don't want chaos, and now I see something in me, that could have only come from your point of view. I'm still not too sure, but I think you've put into view the real world for me. I know that I'm intelligent and have learnt to do what I need to do to get by. But guess what you've done for me, you've begun to teach me the same things I already know, except with perspectives will never kill my glow. If this is still cryptic for you, then hear this straight up acknowledgement of you. Thanks to you I know how to say no, regardless of my generosity and kindness wanting to say so. If I ever run out of luck with other family or Friends and it's not on me, because of you I can 100% say that I don't give a f***k. You've haven't necessarily instilled everything positive into me, however, you have definitely opened my brain for me to acknowledge... Me. I only hope that I'm also still helping, teaching, and making you as happy as you possibly can be. I never want you to be scared and subconsciously make your teeth grind. I am going to do everything I can to make you happy, I hope you don't mind. Because your so special you blow my mind. . 09 NOVEMBER 2017 . So special you blow my mind . By: J R

Nice little chat with this Mountain Laurel today! . . . Variety called ' kaleidoscope ' . Always amazes me in flower and in bud! . Our State flower! Here in Connecticut! . . . Designated as the State Flower by the General Assembly in 1907, the Mountain Laurel is perhaps the most beautiful of native American shrubs. Its fragrance and the massed richness of its white and pink blossoms so vividly contrast with the darker colors of the forests and the fields that they have continually attracted the attention of travelers since the earliest days of our colonization. First mentioned in John Smith's General History, in 1624 specimens were sent to Linnaeus, the famous botanist, by the Swedish explorer Peter Kalm in 1750. Linnaeus gave it the name of Kalmia latifolia, honoring the name his correspondent and at the same time describing the wide-leafed characteristic of the plant. In addition to being called the Mountain Laurel, the plant has also been spoken of as Calico Bush and Spoonwood. . https://portal.ct.gov/About/State-Symbols/The-State-Flower

Is this the evil eye??... . . . No... . It's believed that there are three types of evil eyes... . The first are unconscious evil eyes. These harm people and things, without intending to. . The second type intends to harm. . . The third one is unseen, hidden evil which is the most scared one. . It was believed that, this eye saw all the wickedness in the world and removed poverty and ignorance. When Horus opened its eyes the world was enlightened, when he closed, it became dark. . From Egypt, the eye talisman had spread to the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Europe. When anyone looks at what is excellent with an envious eye he fills the surrounding atmosphere with a pernicious quality, and transmits his own envenomed exhalations into whatever is nearest to him. . The bead reflects the evil intent back to the onlooker. It somewhat resembles an eye and it is said the typical blue color is a factor in protecting the user. . The glass beads of the Aegean islands and Asia Minor were directly dependent upon improvements in glass production. . As for the color blue, it definitely first comes from Egyptian glazed mud, which contains a high percentage of oxides; the copper and cobalt give the blue color when baked. . The Nazar Boncuk charm (or Turkish Eye Bead) is an eye, often set on a blue background. It stares back at the world to ward off the evil eye and keep you safe from harm. . Since then the people have been attaching this Turkish evil eye bead to everything they wished to protect from the evil eyes. From the new-born babies to their horses or even to the doors of their homes. What do the colors mean? . In Turkey or in Greece and surrounding countries, the most popular evil eye charm color is blue. Turkey is in a dry part of the world, where water is precious -- with water things prosper and grow, and without it, things shrivel and die. The color blue reminds people of fresh, cool water . . https://www.evileyestore.com/evil-eye-meaning.html

Tea in the Sahara...with you? . . . My sisters and I Have this wish before we die. And it may sound strange As if our minds are deranged. Please don´t ask us why Beneath the sheltering sky We have this strange obsession You have the means in your possession. We want our tea in the Sahara with you. We want our tea in the Sahara with you. The young man agreed He would satisfy their need So they danced for his pleasure With a joy you could not measure. They would wait for him here The same place every year. Beneath the sheltering sky Across the desert he would fly. Tea in the Sahara with you. Tea in the Sahara with you. The sky turned to black- Would he ever come back? They would climb a high dune They would pray to the moon. But he´d never return, So the sisters would burn As their eyes searched the land With their cups full of sand. Tea in the Sahara with you. Tea in the Sahara with you... Check this lady!!! Out on the town, it's Saturday night!!!!. . . . Remember those days??? . . Lady’s Mantle is such a charmer, with its clouds of tiny flowers and crinkled leaves that grow out from the stem like little fans. In fact, it’s the leaves that give it the link to ‘Our Lady’, as they are thought to resemble her cloak. After a shower the leaves (which are highly water-resistant) hold the drops of water like little jewels, but the plant will also produce the liquid itself in times of high humidity, as explained by Rosamund Richardson in her lovely new book ‘Britain’s Wild Flowers’: Whether the water is made by the plant or arrives via the clouds, the liquid was thought to have magical properties: alchemists used it in their experiments to change base metal into gold (hence Alchemilla) and it was also thought to be an aphrodisiac. The water can also be used by thirsty butterflies and other invertebrates. The leaves are the foodplant of the caterpillar of the Red Carpet moth (Xanthorhoe decoloraria).

Full moon love... . . . Full Strawberry Moon. Other names include the Rose Moon, the Hot Moon, and the Mead Moon. . . . When will I see you again? You left with no goodbye, not a single word was said No final kiss to seal anything I had no idea of the state we were in I know I have a fickle heart and a bitterness And a wandering eye, and a heaviness in my head But don't you remember, don't you remember? The reason you loved me before Baby please remember me once more When was the last time you thought of me? Or have you completely erased me from your memories? I often think about where I went wrong The more I do, the less I know But I know I have a fickle heart and a bitterness And a wandering eye, and a heaviness in my head But don't you remember, don't you remember? The reason you loved me before Baby please remember me once more Oh, I gave you the space so you could breathe I kept my distance so you would be free In hope that you find the missing piece To bring you back to me Why don't you remember, don't you remember? The reason you loved me before Baby please remember me once more When will I see you again? Don't You Remember -----++++Song by Adele Songwriters: Daniel Dodd Wilson / Adele Adkins

Borage has just started to bloom! Yay!!! . . . Listen to Nature at Night How delightful is the softest sound of a clear and starry summer's night, You may hear a moth bashing up against a cottage window pane near a lamp, If you listen really hard you can hear him amongst the many garden leaves, A boom as the soaring cockchafer passes your ear, into the flowery lime. The smallest runnel murmurs aloud as do the far rivers over the green downs, The frogs deep in the marshes sound like they are turning a thousand wheels, And the dorhawk, the cuckoo and the nightingale sing from meadows far away, Quails pipe from the ripe green corn, curlews from the far away moorlands. The sound of a little owl, hooting, he is small, smaller than the blackbird, He hunts for food in the twilight of the evening, mewing shrilly like a cat, The little owl lands in a back lawn, and his head swivels like a corn wheel, It's a fierce little bird and will rid a garden of mice, rats and small birds. The flowers are in the fields, scabious, companula, glomerata and some thrift, The flowers in our gardens are borage, phlox, day-lily, gladiolas and many more, Grasses that make mowing grass beautiful are perennial clover and goats beard, Filling the air with sweetness that will make you heady and happy, great days.
