• For Youth Week 2020, we are hosting a ‘Youth Short Story Competition’ to inspire, encourage and recognise emerging Tweed Shire young writers.  A prize for 3 age groups will be awarded for original and unpublished work in the short story category. Theme: SPEAK UP Length 500-1000 words Groups: 12-14, 15-18, 19-24 years Entry fee: FREE COMPETITION OPENS: Monday 24 February 2020 COMPETITION CLOSES: Friday 20 March 2020 PRIZES: $100 book voucher, your story published online and a workshop with a published author. Winners will be announced Friday 3 April 6.30pm at the Youth Poetry Slam night @ Tweed Civic Centre Auditorium, Brett Street Tweed Heads (free event).

You'll probably even feel like turning back and going home to your own bed (because comfort zone, right?) Then get back in the driver's seat and push through that fog, however slowly, until you reach your destination. Because writing is hard, and good writing in much harder.
