🌈August holiday🌈 🌞Taking the month off to be with family, to attempt to get an updated photo of this lovely lot (getting all 4 together looking at the camera is quite an achievement!) and to be present rather than spend time on my phone. 🌞Back in September with more illustration, more time lapses #bts on stories, more painting, newsletters and another book. 🌞Look forward to catching up then, meanwhile have a wonderful summer! xox Alexia

✨writer’s retreat✨ 🌳This time last week. 🌳48 hours totally solo (a strange novelty!) away from the family fray to reboot and recharge. 🌳Reading, sleeping, walking in the woods, pondering, journalling, making only very basic meals. 🌳And, after a little while, some art journalling and a few blissful hours of writing. ✨Swipe for a few wee vids of my heavenly hut 🙈 🍭What do you do to reboot and recharge? I would so love to hear what helps everyone else. I was literally craving ‘time alone in the woods’ - strange as it may seem! - and this absolutely ticked that box... xox Alexia

🎨 sneaky peeks🎨 On stories I pretty much report in every day with what I’ve been up to at the page that morning, almost always in timelapse form as I’m basically obsessed with it (if only there was a magic spell to make me paint really fast like that...). For some reason, something to do with the accountability of it, I love reporting in on the progress pages, so thank you to those of you cheering me on, it’s a huge help!! Week before last, having finally got ahold of my elusive green gouache paint for my book commission (this is a sneaky peek of some of the images/characters, I wonder if you can guess what they are?!). I painted right up to my deadline, then caught up with my client that Saturday. The results of that chat are the next month’s work. Then last week, after four months of non stop parenting and work, I took a 48 hour break (more of which later - it was heavenly) and hid myself in a cabin in the woods. This week I’m back at my desk, my page (And of course back mumming...) feeling a little refreshed and ready for the next stint of work/mumming. Samuel finished school for 6 weeks on Friday and, whilst I’ve got childcare for the next 3 weeks, I’ll be paintingpaintingpainting as much as I can to make the most of it. Keep an eye on stories for more behind the scenes and illustration details! xox Alexia

🌴sap green gouache!🌴 This week I’m finally laying down a load of green on the images I’ve been working on for my book commission - due Friday! If you’ve been following behind the scenes on stories you’ll know that I had nearly 3 weeks’ delay on my work as EVERY SINGLE ONLINE ART STORE was plum out of Sap Green (what has everyone been painting in lockdown?!). Finally in a chat with my mum, she told me about @kenbromleyart who solved my problem and whizzed two tubes across. So this week is pretty much sponsored by the colour SAP GREEN. Check out my stories for a squizz at the new book pages.
