  • @bandcamp is waiving their fees again TODAY (as well as June 5th & July 3rd). If you've been thinking of supporting me or any other recording artist, today is a good day to do that. ✌🏼❤️

  • One of the interesting things about vinyl is the time limitations. Roughly speaking, up to 22 minutes of music per side. I think this is partly responsible for the flow of many classic records. Side A comes to a close, and when you flip the record over, Side B can take you somewhere new and unexpected.
When I started writing for this record, I knew that I would ultimately be pressing it to vinyl. The limitations of the format certainly informed the flow of the record. That’s why it is exactly 44 minutes and 44 seconds long.
My friend @seanwatersband said something to the effect of “Side A is the angry side, Side B is the sad side”. Whatever your interpretation, this is an album meant to be listened to on vinyl. If you’ve got a record player and a pair of good speakers or headphones, I’d love for you to experience it that way. Link in bio!

  • Impossible Staircase, my fifth record, is here. When I began working on this record, two years ago, I had no idea what it would be about, or how long it would take. I knew for sure that I wanted to create something that would be a reaction to my previous record, Metanoia.
The music on Metanoia was created under pressure. With tight self-imposed deadlines, I had very little time to overthink any decision. It was impulsive and reactionary. It shouldn’t have worked, but somehow it did.

With Impossible Staircase, I tried to do the opposite. I wanted to pour intention into every moment. It is full of nerdy little details, a tip of the hat to the rarest of music fans in 2020: people who still love full-length albums. This one is for you. I wanted to take my time, and I did. Two years in the making, and it is finally here.

In the past week or so we have showcased some of the various talents involved in the creation of this record. I would now like to thank the invisible talent behind the scenes, Caleb McAlpine (@commonfires ). Caleb was my co-producer on this record. While co-producer is a nice official-sounding title, it undersells his importance here. This record and its roll-out would not be what it is without him. Make sure to follow his account, as he has been working on a new record that I'm sure will be something that fans of my music will enjoy deeply.

Thank you as always for your love and support. This record is yours now, friends. I hope you enjoy spending time with it as much I did. - Andrew
