Happy Hanukkah! “With dancing figures created by older adults from Hebrew Senior Life and young girls from Divas mentoring divas, this sculptural installation by artist Silvina Mizrahi is a celebration connecting light with dance and feelings of joy. The Hanukkiyah shares the brightness of the lights and the feeling of being connected, even in the current circumstances. Brighter Connected: Collective Luminescence a collaborative blacklight experience Mixed media, 2020 - artist: @tovaspeter We are honored to collaborate with Tova and @jartsboston on this installation. It will be glowing nightly through December 18th in Newton Centre. Happy Hanukkah! From Tova: This blacklight installation is inspired by the theme of light as a vehicle for connection during the dark and isolating experience of a global pandemic. Hundreds of decorated cards by students from 8 Jewish day schools light a path towards the central glow of a woven mandala representing the Shamash candle of the menorah - the candle that lights all the others. For the love of books📚📖 As the school year approaches, we turn our attention to one of our favorite libraries - the iconic Boston Public Library along Boylston Street. The renovations to the Johnson Addition of the Boston Public Library breathe life back into this 1970s-era building. Largely untouched since the building’s construction, the original lighting was harsh and monochromatic. The architect was tasked with modernizing the interior to meet the needs of today’s patrons and build in flexibility for future reconfigurations.
