Dear FPS Families, As we approach the holiday break, we wanted to reach out to thank you for all of your support prior and since the pandemic erupted in March 2020. It is an understatement to say that our worlds have been turned upside down. As we move into the holiday break, we wanted to wish all of you a very Happy Holiday season. While your holidays will be different this year, we know that one day we will be back with our extended family and friends and be returning to some sense of normalcy. We look forward to that day. We hope you and yours stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing everyone in the new year. Sincerely, Robert Herrera, Superintendent, and Central Office Leadership

Looking for a fun activity to do with your elementary-aged child over winter break? Get outside and go for a self-guided winter walk! Farmington Public Schools (FPS) has partnered with the Farmington Hills Nature Center to create grade-level specific nature walks. Each walk focuses on what students are currently learning in science and they are aligned with the FPS curriculum. All of the guides have a map with questions that can be asked along the way to support your child’s science learning in the classroom. This is a great way to get outside and incorporate some science learning over winter break. Each self-guided walk is listed below by grade level. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MFoeRPtFUWHaj6L94sBNIsfOhadA9ZQijA9ZSdfH3TY/edit Colleen Stamm, Farmington Public Schools’ K-12 math/science coordinator, collaborated with Bonnie Hollander, an instructor at the Nature Center, to align the walks with the curriculum. We hope you take a moment to get outside, enjoy nature, and learn something in the process. #FPSSuccess #fpsbettertogether
