I finally had a second yesterday to shoot for Day 3 of @bealubas #CraftAFoodStory Challenge. I typically LOVE to shoot and edit with cooler tones, but I have been trying to shoot more warm images this year to challenge myself and add diversity to my portfolio. So of course I couldn't resist shooting an image for today's theme - Cooler white balance. I love the softness and crispness it creates and with this image, I wanted to evoke the idea of a cozy winter tea-time and a little nostalgia. I have been watching all the amazing entries for the challenge and I look forward to the next couple of days. Are you participating in the challenge?

What is your business mindset? Are you a freelancer or a CEO? Do you even know how to tell? Today on the blog, I shared a post that digs into what it means to have a CEO mindset as opposed to a freelancer one. What's the difference? Why does it matter? and maybe most importantly: How do I know when it's time to shift my business mindset? It's normal -- and even beneficial -- for our mindsets to change over time as professional photographers. But it's important to be conscious of how a mindset can impact our business growth. Join me on the blog to find out more! Which mindset would you say you have right now?

I talk a lot about burnout and how to avoid it, but you know what else is important? Knowing the difference between true burnout and just feeling demotivated. Or tired. Or cranky. There are times when you aren't feeling it, and it has nothing to do with your workload. Maybe you didn't get enough sleep or you're just feeling a little scatterbrained. Ask yourself some questions if you're having trouble telling the difference. 1. Really get to know yourself. Ask yourself, "Why am I feeling this way?" Answer truthfully to get to the root of the problem. 2. "Is this a short-term feeling or a long-term one?" If you're just having an unproductive afternoon, maybe all you need is a snack or a quick dance party. If you've been struggling with this for weeks, it could be an issue with your workload. 3. "Do I still love my work?" This is a biggie. If you're excited about a project but don't really feel like setting up your shoot for the day, you're probably just a little bored, not burned out. Why is this important? Full-on burnout requires reevaluation and change. It can only be "powered through" for so long. You need to rethink your workload, your pricing, or both, or else you'll just end up burning out again. Tiredness and demotivation simply require a break. Or sometimes, a little more self-discipline. These feelings don't derail your entire life and are short-term. How do you tell the difference between ordinary tiredness and burnout?

AD / I am so excited to be partnering once more with @Carapelliusa, my favorite artisan Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I love its fruity, green notes that pair so well with my style of cooking. You see, in my house, a quiche or a savory tart is a go-to meal. Served with a salad, it’s healthy and I can have it on the table in 40 minutes or less. You know, as a busy mom, I am all for a quick healthy meal. But as a food photographer, what I put on my table needs to look goooood! So I always take a few extra minutes to style my dishes! When it comes to quiches, it’s as simple as adding some fresh herbs and drizzling with the beautiful Oro Verde Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It transforms a simple weeknight dinner in an occasion and I’m all for it! Also, I still can’t over how elegant is this bottle… What are your plating and presentation tricks to make your dishes unique? #MyCarapelliCraft #125YearsOfMastery #ExtraVirginOliveOil #sponsored #photographieculinaire #stylisteculinaire #photographeculinaire #stylismeculinaire #eatmoremagic #myfoodphotography #moodygram #f52community #soulfood #getinmybelly #forkyeah #storyofmytable #instayummy #foodstyleguide #styleyofood #makeitdelicious #produce #freshfood #inseasonnow #eatyourcolor #seasonalfood #eatmoreveggies #still_life_gallery #onourcreativetable #firstweeat #inmykitchen
