Pinterest is my career so I know this stuff can get overwhelming. That’s why it’s my goal to either take it off business owners plates or help guide them after creating a firm foundation so they can work smarter not harder for a sustainable, profitable blogging business. Remember that it takes consistency and time when it comes to Pinterest growth but stick with it for 3-6 months and you WILL find yourself heading towards your business goals rather then remaining stagnant with no clue how to get it moving. I like to pretend Pinterest and I are tight 🤞🏻 since I basically live and breathe it, but since they are kind of busy over there... let's sum up these automated responses because I still found it helpful to learn what Pinterest is wanting from its content creators. Now I say all of this knowing, pleasing Pinterest is not my #1 goal. Getting my clients targeted website traffic and sales are always my top priorities, BUT knowing what makes Pinterest happy can help us determine what's a win-win solution. Long time no see 👋🏼 I disappeared for almost 2 months (on the feed) because honestly, Pinterest was demanding all my attention. It’s been so dang fickle lately that I needed to really put my head down and focus on it. Basically, Pinterest got reallyyyyy cool & popular through the pandemic > it went public > it added some features > it changed its algorithm > it added some more features > it changed it analytics. I felt like I didn’t have much to share because I was still trying out the new features and learning how to use them most effectively. Social media marketing be like that: it changes. That’s just the nature of those platforms, but that doesn’t have to be bad. It just means never staying stagnant - something I actually always wanted in a career hence why I ran away from the corporate world. That being said- I feel like I’ve learned a lot and have some tried & true Pinterest strategies and some new Pinterest tactics that I’m excited to share. I've changed my tune on story pins. They still bother me that you can't link outside of Pinterest BUT basically I now think story pins are necessary to play the Pinterest game these days. I share most of the deets in the carousel, but if you're wondering what the heck a story pin is: it's basically a series of slides (up to 20) on Pinterest that are there own piece of mini content. They allow the creator to go deeper than just one pin, but not as in depth as a blog post. They're one of the ways Pinterest is trying to better serve its users by allowing them to find valuable mini-content right on the platform itself. It doesn't allow you to link to a blog post/somewhere on your site which is why it bugged me at first. As a Pinterest strategist, I want my clients sites to get all the love not just they're profiles. But it's looking more and more like this is a feature Pinterest wants to make a thing and part of their bigger picture for the future of the platform so to ignore it while they're REALLY pushing it is just silly! ((There are a lot of similarities between the way Pinterest is treating story pins and how Instagram is treating reels- in case that helps explain it better!))
