Centrally located, the park connects the various faculties of the TU Delft, and in doing so, reflects the interdisciplinary character of the university. At 800 metres long and 80 metres wide, Mekel Park lends a grandeur to the university and provides an enjoyable meeting place for the international community of teachers and students. It is designed by @mecanoo_ and completed in 2017. The complexity of the location and the stringent security measures required a carefully integrated design solution. The building consists of two volumes: the high-rise tower with 12 storeys and the low-rise plinth covered in an alternating rhythm of open and closed composite elements giving the building a timeless, classic look.
