Did you catch the video of this logo being installed on a wall in my stories the other day? If not, go check out @l_interiors_ and get a sneak peek at the behind-the-scenes design of the @littleonespediatricdentistry office. ☀️ I get so much joy out of seeing the brands that I design come to life. It is fun to see how they take shape and brightly show up in the world.

There are a million reasons why I do what I do, but there are 3 that take the cake…⠀ ⠀ 1. I have to be creative every day, and guess what? This dream job that I've created checks that off the list daily. Don't get me wrong, not every day is a dreamy, creative day, but I'm still getting to use my creative mind daily, and that makes me happy.⠀ ⠀ 2. I work with some of the best people around. They are passionate, hard-working, visionaries and go-getters who inspire me daily. I love working with them to help illustrate their passions so that, together, we can pave the way to a brighter future.⠀ ⠀ 3. I loving seeing ideas and visions come to life. The best part is seeing how colors, little graphic details, fonts, illustrations, patterns, and logos can all mix together and BOOM – magically transform any vision. You should see my client's reactions when they see that magic. Words can't do it justice. But I get it. I feel the same excitement when I see my own ideas come to life, and it's the same excitement when I make someone else's vision/ideas a reality.⠀ ⠀ I’m so lucky to do what I do! ✨What is your top reason for doing what you do?⠀ ⠀ Photo cred: @juliegriffinphotography

Thanks for all the kind words about the book cover I designed and shared yesterday. It was definitely a bright spot during this crazy/hard month that I've had. Seeing the responses to the design was a nice little bit of validation for all the hard work, heart and soul that I put into that project. Honestly, I put that in all my projects and my life in general, but you know what I mean. Before posting yesterday, I had been pretty quiet around here. I debated whether to share, but it felt weird showing up like nothing has happened in my life. Art therapy (pictured above), therapy, and talking with friends and family about what I have experienced has helped me so much. At first, art was the best way of processing what happened, but art has always been the fuel to my soul, so the fact that it has been so helpful in my healing journey is not that surprising. At the beginning of Feb, my husband had to take me to the ER, where we found out that I needed to have emergency surgery. We knew that I was pregnant but didn't know that it was an ectopic pregnancy. Nor did we know I was further along–more like 10 weeks than the 6 weeks we assumed. Our first appointment was going to be that week. When we got to the hospital, I passed out in the parking lot. I was experiencing a lot of internal bleeding from my tube rupturing, and my blood levels were at a very scary level. Emergencies are scary during normal times, but I can’t even begin to describe how scary it was to experience it alone because we are living through Covid, and my husband couldn’t be with me. He was told that he couldn't stay. Thankfully, the surgery went well and I’m doing better every day. I’m so grateful for the amazing doctors and nurses who took care of me. So please continue to wear a mask so we can slow the spread of covid and that covid patients and non-covid patients like me don’t have to face scary medical situations alone because the healing powers of having friends and family close are just as powerful as medical ones. 💙 I know the emotional/mental healing will take longer, but I feel so blessed to have a wonderful support system around me, hugs from my 2 yr old and my art.

Did you catch the BIG reveal yesterday? I shared about it in my stories, but if you missed them, I'm so excited to share with you all that I designed the cover for @nataliefranke book – Built to Belong. I'm so honored that she trusted me. The book is amazing! I read the manuscript, and I vividly remember several moments and lines throughout the book that resonated with me and inspired me. But the words that stuck out the most were these – "Belonging builds us and breaks us. It molds and shapes us. It transforms our understanding of ourselves and others. It is the foundation of the human experience. Like tiles in a mosaic or musical notes in a symphony—we are separate parts of a collective masterpiece.” If you are a designer, artist, illustrator, or any creative like me, you know that feeling when inspiration strikes. And it's the best feeling too. I just kept imagining creating this "collective masterpiece" that really captured the heart and soul of #communityovercompetition. I envisioned an abstract background/art piece that, as you looked closer, you would notice all the layers and details woven together in some abstract interpretation of community. And plus, it needed to be bold and colorful. I can't wait to share all the details behind the design. Until then, head over to Natalie's profile and pre-order her book. It is such an inspiring read! An old illustration but a favorite one. I thought this little polar bear and penguin deserved a little love this Friday, so here they are in all their glory. 🐧💙 🐻❄️ ❄️

Sometimes the most relaxing thing for my mind to do is to recreate patterns from my sketchbook on my iPad. I don't know what it is about that, but it just calms my creative mind. 🌼💙

So many new projects are happening behind the scenes, and each of them has me so energized. I'll be heading into the weekend with my mind full of ideas, and that is an exciting feeling! Happy Friday, my friends! 📷 cred: @lifecreated

How do you stay inspired? For me it is making time I constantly talk about making time to play creatively because it is integral to what I do and even more important for my creative soul. It is my own form of exercise to keep my creative muscles strong. This sketchbook spread from a couple of months ago is one of my favorites. Most of my sketchbooks are filled with floral paintings, but I wanted to switch it up slightly, so I decided to paint several pieces of white computer paper solid colors and then cut them into different shapes. Next, I created this abstract graphic collage. Which then inspired the floral painting to the left of it. If you look closely at the collage, you'll notice a floral element created from 3 cut shapes. That inspired the shape and the color treatment of the floral pattern I painted. Then that color scheme inspired the floral painting in my small sketchbook above. See what creatively playing can inspire. It can be so magical. And it is crazy even to see how it inspires client projects that I work on too. ✨💛
