  • I was thrice lucky with this damned box game... First time lucky, with constant gw site crashes, my Internet dropping, items selling out in basket and having to start over. I finally managed to secure a copy at 10.20 on release day. Second time lucky, it actually arrived today after the announcement it was going to be delayed for many. Third time lucky, the baby is teething and off and on screaming. I didn't hear the door, late in the morning I saw the posties red card of disappointment by the door then near had a heart attack that the parcel had been left exposed on the doorstep all morning! But I am grateful it turned out well in the end. I've been excited about this release since the first sneak peeks. Overwrought gothic horror in a collision with some good old dungeon delving warhammer shenanigans.   • Been meaning to post this for a while since the video went up. I was invited to collaborate as part of Team @terrainosaur in a painting challenge. We had to follow one of the painting tutorials by the awesome YouTuber Juan Hidalgo @jh.miniaturas in an attempt to replicate his style. I have very little experience with Contrast Paints and this is far removed from my own comfort zone in painting, but I do like to try out new techniques. I decided choosing one tutorial for a portion of the miniature and finishing the rest in mybown style wasn't on. So I picked several from Juan's catalogue in my attempt to complete these figures in his style: How to Paint - Ghosts, Ethereal steel, Gold armour, Rusted metal, Bones and Painted sand bases. I did however remember I'd been meaning to post these images that I think are fitting. I recently managed to pick up a whole assortment of awesomeness from Julian Bayliss who is still in the process of clearing out his tabletop collection. The piece I asked her to create was inspired by the Cynocephalic (dog-headed) St. Christopher as he was sometimes depicted historically in Eastern Orthodoxy. I've always found it really fascinating. It's absolutely amazing, Ana completely blew away my expectations when it was revealed. I was so excited I could barely contain myself while it was in transit. And the presentation of the package when it arrived, amazing! This wasn't just a purchase of an item for my collection.   • W.I.P. I started making this miniature a little while ago... I suppose it's a Djinn or Daemonic entity maybe . I was recently organising a big bag of Sylvaneth bits I'd picked up on Ebay and then started playing with the bits and sort of making shapes. I decided it would be fun to challenge myself to make a complete figure from that bits selection. But I was only allowed to use those miniature bits no other kits, the only other things allowed would be jewellery making bits and anything else scratch built. This was my entire reason for the story shout out I did asking for tips in making flames. A big thank you to everyone who got in contact with suggestions, I haven't got around to trying any of them out yet, but this is where they're intended to be used. The smoke was something I wanted to try out. It's expanding foam applied over a wire frame I bent into shape coiling around beneath the torso.   • My friends @mrpedantic , @neonpinkapokalypse and myself met up recently to trade overdue birthday gifts and other things between us. I was able to hand over the last couple of Blood Angels characters I painted (and completely forgot to take any pictures of!?!) And I received these animal companion miniatures made by @dungeonsandlasersofficial No idea what I'm doing with them yet, but they look like a lot of fun. Maybe I can find a use for them in some grimdark warband or other for aos28 or inq28. Maybe I'll just hold onto them for the next time I get to play rpg at the table... who knows. I've become more and more like an rpg reader than player in recent times. But the books produced for #lotfp are simply amazing and always a great mine for the imagination and inspiration.   • My @redgrassgames kickstarter package arrived today. New RGG 360 ergonomic miniature painting handles. I mainly picked one up for my other half @mickxters_minis to help with problems with her hand strength/grip while painting miniatures. But I wasn't gonna miss out a chance at playing with new toys and got myself one too.     My @redgrassgames kickstarter package arrived today. New RGG 360 ergonomic miniature painting handles. I mainly picked one up for my other half @mickxters_minis to help with problems with her hand strength/grip while painting miniatures. But I wasn't gonna miss out a chance at playing with new toys and got myself one too.   • Not the way I imagined my birthday evening going. From a take away meal not being delivered! To my bloody hobby room flooding later!!! Been up all night sorting it out, bloody knackered. There's too much to go into, might write it up on my blog or something. There were some damages, but all miniatures and hobby supplies are perfectly fine. I'd only just come back after a hobby break! The idea of an invisible creature. The cobbled base was wonderful. The blood effects/spatter, nicely done, restrained. Just awesome characterful model all around. And I was like I wanna do that, but different... So we switch it up. Change the setting, Old World to 41st Millennium. Mordheim to Necromunda. The subtle blood was nice. BUT I WANT BLOOD! World events were really impacting my mental health and my ability to function to meet the needs of my family. So I took a little time to gather myself.   • My Lord of Blights masterclass piece is finally finished. Really happy with it. Many thanks to @darrenlatham our amazing mentor. ++ His scouts had led them true through the winding mountain pass with it's precarious conditions, wailing winds and winter climes. Although the cold itself was inconsequential and offered no real discomfort to their progress. The horrific maggot-ridden bulk of Lord Korpulus Festerbile emerged from the crags where the path ended and opened out into the lands beyond. An uncomfortable sense of unease drew his glance quickly to his side, whereupon he discovered a small shrine ensconced in the rocks by the entrance to the pass. Decorated with the sigils of the hated enemy, a twin tailed comet and hanging brazen hammer, travellers would leave votives here in the hope their beloved Sigmar would guide them safely. Festerbile's lip curled in disdain. With a growl he hefted his heavy grime encrusted hammer aloft and brought it down with sudden brutish force, smashing and scattering the shrine and plate of offerings across the cold winter ground.The carrion birds in the boughs of the gnarled tree overhead cawed and glared uneasily upon the Lord of Blights. Satisfied with his act of sacrilegious vandalism, he turned his attention back to the path ahead, a rough old road sign stood nearby with a single word written upon it; Latham. He surveyed beyond where the sign pointed, a short march down the thawing foothill into the vale below he could see the small unwitting town, smoke rising from the many cosy hearths and the early evening lights being lit. It would be a matter of mere moments until the foulness and grotesquery of his war-band filtered from the craggy opening behind him.   • I said in my previous post I wanted to revisit an idea I had for a small shrine for my plinth. I just thought I'd share how I built it. Just a few little pieces of styrene tubes and rod in different shapes and a couple of Sigmarite icons. The build is straight forward, pieces cut to size first and constructed around the initial boxy shape. Then once it was finished...     I said in my previous post I wanted to revisit an idea I had for a small shrine for my plinth. I just thought I'd share how I built it. Just a few little pieces of styrene tubes and rod in different shapes and a couple of Sigmarite icons. The build is straight forward, pieces cut to size first and constructed around the initial boxy shape. Then once it was finished...   • I got a little work in on the Ash Daemons earlier. The rocky growths and roots upon their backs (bit fiddly and took a while). Still needs to be blended in to the skin later. Also in the final image you can see I've sorted out a whole bunch of water filter balls to start work on the many eyes I need to add, which should be the next part. It has literally taken me this long to get around to sitting and opening it up to have a look. Can't say I'm surprised at my top nine of 2019 being mostly tied to the golden throne diorama 🤣 (It's still in Leeds GW, I should go pick it up sometime...) My apologies for the silence around here.   • Work in progress on some Ash Daemons for The Ashen Stair. Changed up the poses with some limb repositioning, converted heads and blended the heads onto the bodies with a bit of sculpting. Still more detail to add, rocky crests running down their back. Ben playing with ideas for changing the faces. 1. Default 2. Withered/puckered eyes 3. Smooth/no eyes 4. Big bug eyes 5. 4 eyes 6.   • Flocks of daemonic carrion birds formed of smoke, soot and ash, cackle maliciously as they descend upon the helpless in the Ashen Stair. These conversions were surprisingly difficult to photograph because of their shape and they they are painted mainly blacks and greys and also covered in black and grey weathering powders.   • Just had spend the last couple of hours cleaning up broken glass. One of the tempered glass panels on our Bosc Monitor tank just exploded in my partner's face. She was just putting in some fresh drinking water, touched the panel to begin sliding it shut and BOOM! Heard it blow and her scream and went running up. Thankfully she and the our Monitor were not harmed just a little shocked. He's been taken down to the local exotic pet store to put him up in emergency accommodation while we call around get a replacement panel as quickly as possible. #pet #reptile #exoticpet #luckyescape #boscmonitor #savannahmonitor #monitorlizard #scary #vivarium
