Meet Laura Trenta đź‘‹ Laura was studying in Catania, Italy when a professor introduced her to the Auburn exchange program. She decided to join the program with the hopes of learning more about The United States, the language, and its culture. It was at the orientation held by the Office of International Programs where she realized how different Italian and American school systems truly can be. Laura invested her time in numerous events such as the International Buddy Program and Social Hour every Friday afternoon where she was able to meet many other Auburn students from around the world! Since then she has extended her academic career at Auburn in the College of Liberal Arts under Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Summerfield. There are still seats available!✨NEW FALL 2020 CLASS ✨ For centuries Italy has fascinated travelers, artists, scientists, and food lovers. Through their travailing visits, sketches, travelogues, and novels, men and women from England, France, Germany, and the U.S. have captured their interests and preserved the memories of the Italy they came to know. . Italian artists themselves have sought time and again their idealized homeland, which they recall through sight, smell, sound, and taste. Students will join this tour of the senses, partaking past and present discoveries and recollections, by reading, watching, discussing and savoring the places, experiences, and food presented in this course. . At the end of the semester, students, following the pathways of these men and women of letters, tourists, and foodies, will find their own Italy/ies. No book required. All course material will be available on Canvas. Course will fulfill requirements for a Minor in Italian Studies and/or a Mediterranean Studies certificate; it could also count as elective. NOTE: This class will be a hybrid of Online & a few In-Person class meetings. For more information, Contact Dr. Giovanna Summerfield at summegi@auburn.edu #CLAabroadAU
