  • So my life on the weekends may look glamorous like this, but I promise you I spent my Friday afternoon cleaning an inch thick layer of curdled milk from the bottom of a bar fridge.
Ya win some ya lose some 😂 #TheBohoDoesSpain #yachtie

  • Still computing that we are in the final quarter of 2020. What a wild ride it’s been, especially work wise.
Travel looked super weird this year. I started off this year with a new job with @explorateurtravel as a travel planner- expecting to plan beautiful vacations to Italy, Scotland, and Iceland.
⁣
The world had other plans for me. I haven’t planned a single euro trip and it’s killing me.
⁣
But you know what I have planned lots of? Domestic trips, small vacation. Little joys and bursts of escape. And it makes me so stinking pleased to know that in the midst of this pandemic I can help people have a little bit of relief by sharing my joy of travel.
⁣
If you told me in January that this is how 2020 was going to go, I would’ve laughed, and then probably cried.
⁣
For now, we’re going to get through it together. With a little help from cuban coffee.

  • WHO HERE CARVES PUMPKINS? 🎃
I was told by a fellow crew today that carving pumpkins is a pretty American thing and that I was going to be hard pressed to find a pumpkin here in Palma (I’m determined to, don’t worry)
I’ve definitely noticed through the years when I’ve spent halloween abroad, that the holiday isn’t nearly celebrated as much anywhere I’ve been as it is in the states!
Where have your favorite Halloween celebrations taken place?
One my my personal favorites is in Salem, Mass - also known as witch city! I have some clients traveling there soon for their honeymoon and I cannot wait to see their adventures in one of my favorite cities!

  • Yesterday I woke up and I was 26!🖤 🎃
I’ve always struggled with birthdays and In all honesty, this birthday was a hard one for me. I always wake up, take stock of my body, the aging, the scars, the way it feels.
My 25th birthday last year was so different than this one- both with the physical celebration and mentally. Last year I was with my closest friends and family in my hometown- this year I celebrated with new friends in a strange city.
My life was in a different place, I was renting an apartment, working at the family business, in a relationship, and i thought I had it all figured out. There was a plan.
In the words of Pheobe Buffet, this year I don’t even have a “pla”, im living on a boat, in another country, there’s a global pandemic, and I’ve been single for the longest time ever since I started dating at 15. All of these things I am passionately grateful for, but my head is spinning at the extent of the change in a year
In this past year of my life, friends and family have passed away, gotten married, came in and out of my life and taught me valuable lessons.
I’ve done my first several 500+ nautical mile crossings, worked on my first yacht other than ours, and went back to school to get certifications.
I’ve traveled more this year than ever, ecuador, domestic trips, Italy, Ireland, Morocco, Spain, Croatia, and more - even with a pandemic happening.
I woke up 26 sore from sanding nonskid off a deck, and a slight headache from wine the night before, a slight sadistic thought in my head that my cells are officially dying faster than they can reproduce.
But you know what it all means? That I’m human. This year has been the biggest learning experience if my life to date.
That the tears (there were lots), the blood (lots of that too), the sweat (im talking gallons), and the stubbed toes and bruises over my body were worth it. I’ve been challenged in ways I didn’t think possible. I’ve learned who my real friends are, where my naivety lies, waking up with a positive attitude is always worth it, and if it’s not going to matter in a week, it doesn’t matter now.
25 was a curveball, 26 is going to be the fast pitch. oh, shit, im closer to 30 than 20

  • SHAME.

What a loaded word. I remember watching the scene where Cersei takes her “walk of shame”. To stand in the location brought up some harsh realities.

Even for this dispicable character whom so many people vehemently abhor, I felt sick to my stomach. I was brought to tears while watching.

It’s a weird thing that brought her to those steps. That had her hair shorn, stripped of her dignity, removed of her pride and torn away from her clothing.

You could say it was her hunger for power, her nastiness, her evil ways that brought her there, but in reality it was because she was a woman.

She was a woman who wanted too much.

So often women are looked down upon because they ask for too much.

We ask for raises and get laughed at.

We go for jobs that have been traditionally been held by men and get reprimanded.

We hold positions of power and instead of being applauded as a leader we get called bossy.

We try to have families and own businesses and go to the gym and still it is somehow too much and not enough.

We are shamed for the things we desire, unless it falls into the standard gender norm. Hell, sometimes we are even shamed for wanting those!

If everyone practiced a little more acceptance, a little more open mindedness, and a little more empathy, think of the things we could accomplish.

We can’t change the world in a day, but we can change our attitude on shaming others for the decisions they make. Everyone’s values are different, and just because they are different doesn’t make them wrong.

Learn from eachother- you never know what conversation you might have with someone that could change your mind forever.

PS- if your feminism isn’t intersectional, I don’t want it.

PPS- my game of thrones tour around the world continues and I’m sad I don’t have my long hair anymore 😭

  • Since there’s been a change of handle around here, I want to take a little minute and reintroduce the parts of myself that aren’t travel related! I’ve spent most of my time on this account talking about travel in all ways shapes and forms, but there’s so much more that happens in my day to day life than exploring. ✨
🌺 my full time “9-5” job is sailing. I’ve worked full time for the past 3 years on the @schoonerfreedom and I am currently working a charter season on a super yacht in the Med!
🌸 Im low key a huge nerd. Like i love sci-fi & fantasy novels/ movies. I’ve read all the Harry Potter books 7 times through 🙃🙃 have read/watched all lord of the rings, finally finished all the Star Wars sagas, have watched GoT through several times and so much more! Those are obviously just the big ones I’ve read/ watched a lot of fantasy in my day! Any good fantasy recs are ALWAYS welcome (PS, just finished carnival row on Amazon Prime and absolutely loved)
🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m super accident prone and have broken my right arm 2 times, fractured it once, had surgery on it once, pulled it out of socket a few times and still haven’t learned my lesson.
💫 you can win your way to my heart with Prosecco and a good charcuterie board
💕 I wear my heart on my sleeve - honestly I fall way too easily and i fall hard, but I never seem to learn from this 😂
✨I am a libra sun, Leo moon, and Sagittarius rising take with that what you will- I’ve resigned to never date anyone else who’s signs don’t align with mine 🤷🏼‍♀️
🧘🏼‍♀️ Im big into yoga and my 5 year plan includes getting my 200 Hours yoga teaching certification
⛵️ back to sailing - I was born and raised on the ocean and my second passion to travel is being on the water. If I’m not experiencing a new country my happy place is behind the helm.

  • Ch ch ch ch chaaaaanges 🎶 yup- ive changed my Instagram handle and its still stressing me out, but things are all good 😳 💯
for every new season comes a new light on things. Your girl is still The Boho Traveller (and the blog is going to stay that way) but I’ve wanted for a while for my Instagram to become more inclusive of my life outside of travel, especially considering the travel bans put in place from covid-19.
it left me thinking of new ways to add value to you that isn’t always travel related.
it might seem a little weird right now why I’ve taken a step in this direction, but I’ve had some monumental changes in my life in the last couple of weeks.
While my passion is travel and I’m always saving for more trips more adventures and more plane tickets, I have so many other things I want to share with you.
From my life as a yachtie, to a business owner, to all the fashion deets and even just my normal day to day adventures, changing my handle to my name is what makes the most sense in my life right now 💕

DONT WORRY- there’s still gonna be loads of travel on here, just also loads more of other things to inspire you and bring light and positivity into your life ✨

  • “A successful woman is someone who has built something from the bricks others have thrown at her” (David Brinkley)

And believe me, they’re gonna throw the bricks. They’re going to hate you, they’re going to try and tear you down. I remember the day I decided to quit theatre - which had once been my complete passion- after an instructor told me that no one wanted to see another blonde hair blue eyed girl on stage.

I was broken. I changed my major and I haven’t performed since then. Looking back now I joke about it and when I tell the story I say something along the lines of- well maybe I still have a chance because my eyes are green and not blue.

But that shit hurt. I cried about it. Then I picked myself up and re-evaluated.

If that professor hadn’t told me that, I would have an entirely different course in my life.

I couldn’t say if it would be better or worse, but what I do know, is that brick that was thrown at me became another brick in the foundation of who I am now.

20 year old me didn’t know it at the time, but that brick that nearly knocked me out, was the same brick that spurred me to travel the world, seek out a life far from ordinary, and build a future that I controlled.

So when they’re throwing bricks at you- catch them (or don’t) but be sure to use them to build your empire.
Like they say - rome wasn’t build in a day, and neither were you. #TheBohoLifestyle
