It’s *almost* a three day weekend! Maybe since Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer, the weather will get.the.hint!
I’m so grateful for this precious boy and his amazing sister... and their friendship. He is so strong, brave, and kind. His personality and sense of humor are 😍. Also, it’s a good thing he’s so cute because he is also a wild one! Happy 3rd Birthday Wade Thomas!
Rainbows!🌈Audra loves rainbows, so she was extra excited for all the rainbow activities we did. I’ve been looking for ways to practice numbers and counting, so it was an easy win to incorporate our rainbow bear counters. I made these color mats- one set without numbers, one set 1-10 and one set 11-20. Wade used the one without numbers to work on matching his colors. Audra matched the bear to the color, and we practiced counting as she placed the bear. They used the tongs I bought them a couple of weeks ago to place the bears. I’ll have a blog post up with the printables and more ideas this week! #playmatters #play #readingtodiscover #homeschool
This Queen Elsa sensory box was another hit with Audra (Wade was napping). I used the sugar cubes and marshmallows leftover from building our castles and combined them with frozen epsom salt and lots of glitter. I also threw in some gems and our Frozen dolls. In order to practice sorting, I also gave Audra an ice cube tray and asked her to put the gems in there, grouped by color. Of course, she also had to wash everything as it came out of the box, this the bowl of water. This fun sensory box was the perfect wrap up to our Queen Elsa week. #playbasedpreschool #playmatters #play #readingtodiscover
This kid steals my heart every day. Now that the weather is getting warmer, if I don’t know where he is, the first place I check is outside. Today, I found him splashing in puddles...barefoot. When I went out to take pictures (because of course I did) he asked me why the water is so cold... I had to laugh. It’s not summer *yet* buddy! #springtime #muddypuddles #cookieandpapashouse #playbasedpreschool #playbased #play #playingislearning #outsideplay #playoutside #gooutsideandplay #goplayoutside #playmatters #jumpinginpuddlesisfun
A little impromptu kinetic sand imaginary play this afternoon... we have been out and about a lot over the last two weeks, so in prep for a trip we are going on next week, we ended up staying home for most of the day (unusual for us). We have had lots of cuddles and chill time, but this afternoon
were getting antsy and I decided to try to make kinetic sand. It is not as good as the classic store-bought stuff, but the kids are having fun and it was WAY less expensive! I wouldn’t call it completely successful... at least not for what I envisioned. Does anyone have a recipe that actually stays together?! #playbasedpreschool #preschooleducation
The kids loved creating art with ❄️Frozen Snow Paint❄️ This is a fun sensory experience for any child and can be customized to their interests. I simply combined shaving cream with liquid watercolors and sprinkled glitter on top (I used a muffin tin, but I forgot to take a picture of it 🤦🏼♀️) The kids used paintbrushes and their hands to create their art with it. I do suggest using a heavier paper such as card stock. You could customize this a bunch of different ways... rainbow colors to paint a Rainbow 🌈. Pinks, purples, yellows, etc to make spring flower 🌸. Red, Yellow, Orange to make fall leaves 🍁. For Christmas It would be cute to make a Christmas tree then decorate it with Pom poms after it dries🎄! The possibilities are endless for this fun, textured “paint.” What would you create? . #preschoolathome #playtolearn #letthembelittle #athomepreschool
