Had such a great meet-up tonight at the @themotherhoodcollectiveaz. How lucky am I that I get to participate in listening to these women’s stories and take away so much from their experiences. A huge part of personal growth for me is heeding the advice of others that have been there before me; for these special connections I am always grateful.
Lately, whenever I paint my toes, Charlie has shown a ton of interest in what I’m doing. So after I’m done, we do hers. Surprisingly, she sits perfectly still watching me. Then when I’m done, she points at her sausage piggies and mumbles excitedly in toddler gibberish. I’m equating it to something along the lines of “thanks ma! My toes look dope af!”
This time last year, I took a leap of faith and kicked off Charlie takes Phoenix. While I never knew which direction it would head in; I am happy where it landed. All I ever hoped to create was a safe space where women supported women in motherhood, throughout all of its facets. Thanks to every single one of you, it’s become exactly that, and so much more. — I love you guys. Thank you for supporting my vision, silly endevours, and rallying for my continued growth. I hope it's brought you a little joy and big laughs over the last 365 days. Here’s hoping to 365 more!

“Ma, tf are these things?” - Charlie
Headed out to run some errands to enjoy this gorgeous Arizona weather. Happy Sunday, gals! 🌦
Had such a fun afternoon letting these two girlies celebrate Alice turning ONE! We drank coffee, ate cake pops, and made a mess. We also got to snuggle baby sister. Love my tribe hard. 💕
A reminder to myself (and to you, my fierce mamas) as I lay here reflecting on my week: Your truth is yours alone. It’s a badge of honor for all of the experiences, good and bad, that you’ve endured throughout your life. Don’t ever let anyone try and make you second guess the authenticity of that badge. Your story is solely yours to speak on. No one reserves the authority to red mark your chapters, attempting to re-write or edit to the satisfaction of their egos. At the end of the day, all we have is what we’ve been told, what we’ve seen, how it’s affected us, and how we choose to use it as we grow. Believe in the power of your voice; don’t silence it by allowing others to dictate the context in which you use it.
Hi! For those of you that just recently started following me - I’m Nikki. I’m a first-time girl mom to the queen of sass, Charlie (who’s driven the existence of this blog) A few things about me: — • I’m from Phoenix, AZ born and raised • I’m 31 years old 😭 • I can never take myself too seriously. Because of this, I can be sort of flighty and indecisive! I go back and forth a lot in life lol • I curse like it’s nobodies business • I’m super basic in that I love coffee and pajamas and oils and every single item every mom loves ever. I own it. • I love cooking, mindless tv and romcoms - movie quotes fo’ life! • I’m an INFJ empath. This can make me seem stand offish and over the top. I’m an extroverted introvert, but keep my guard up and am weary of inauthentic connection. • I truly believe in mental health advocacy. I’ve been battling severe anxiety since I was a kid. I’ve been through therapy, meds, being told ‘it’s all in my head’ and that I’m over sensitive. I’m here representing the misconceptions of MH and how we can end the stigma. • I think people tend to get the impression that I’m a snooty bitch. I internalize and keep to myself a lot if I don’t know you. When I feel comfortable enough around you, you can’t shut me up. • I love food. Give me alllll the food. I hate mushrooms and can’t get enough of Avocado or Snickers bars. • Christmas is my favorite holiday ever in life • I am a freelance graphic designer • I hate flying insects!!! • My fiancé and I have been engaged for 3 years, together for 7. We’ll get married eventually; it’s pretty much a running joke in the family. • Teal is my favorite color. • I used to work for Child protective services for 6 years. Emotionally draining but so worth every second I spent doing it. — Your turn! Tell me something about yourself. Photo by @maliabphoto
Same girl, same. All the sleepy vibes today. Who’s up for a nap?!
Did you know: today is World Mental Health Day? While we set aside 24 hours to recognize and bring awareness to an otherwise quiet topic; there are others around the world struggling to find reasons to continue to live. Those that feel helpless, lost, hurt and forgotten. Today, Ask someone how their feeling. Listen with intent. Tell someone that you love them, remind them how important they are to you. — Most importantly, remember that you are: • loved • important • kind • intelligent • worthy • needed • wanted • priceless • unique — Love you guys. 💕
