How I Transitioned from Struggling VA ➡️ Booked Out Content Pro! When I dove headfirst into entrepreneurship, I ignored all the standard advice about continuing to work your corporate job, slowly building your side hustle, and eventually quitting your job. I traveled the road less traveled. Literally. After working at a marketing firm in Europe, I decided that I wanted to find a way to work anywhere in the world and still make great money. So when I heard about the term ‘virtual assistant’, it felt like the perfect opportunity to share the skills I learned at my previous company and start my own business. Armed with an online teaching gig to supplement my income and an UpWork profile, I set off. Long story short, it was a rollercoaster. I didn’t invest in a coach or course for the first year, and it was VERY messy. I had no boundaries with clients and quickly became overwhelmed with last-minute tasks every day. I worked for low hourly rates and found it really hard to package myself due to my lack of confidence. So after one year, I realized that this wasn’t what I signed up for when I decided to become an entrepreneur. Something NEEDED to change. That’s when I decided to invest in my first coach, niched down, and created my signature content repurposing offer that I’ve now scaled to consistent $5-7k months. Since then, I’ve learned: 1️⃣ Follow your heart, not the “should’s”. 2️⃣ Don’t be afraid to niche down. 3️⃣ Confront your fear of leveling up. 4️⃣ Recognize the power of going all-in on something. 5️⃣ You don’t need to have everything figured out to get started. The freedom that I feel now is night and day compared to three years ago. What’s one thing you wish you knew when starting your business? READY TO BECOME A IN-DEMAND CONTENT PRO? If you want to become THE content expert, it’s time for a shift in mindset. In the beginning, it’s normal to spend hours searching Facebook groups and Upwork for job opps to get clients. And this works great when you’re still exploring how you’d like to niche down as a content pro. But eventually, you’ll need to elevate your brand online. Here’s how 👇🏻 1️⃣ Master your content skills. Build a portfolio of work so you always have something to share with potential clients. The content that you’re creating should always be unique and high-level so it ACTUALLY gets them results. 2️⃣ Create a package based on your content skills. Hourly rates or multiple, complex packages are not a sustainable solution when it comes to creating content. YOU are the expert, so create service packages that are cohesive and work well for your ideal clients. 3️⃣ Market your skills online like a boss! Your Instagram account is your new portfolio. If potential clients are already super impressed with the work on your page, it’ll be a no-brainer for them to work with you. Now that you have a better understanding of becoming the expert, grab a copy of the Content Manager’s Toolkit to truly up level your business. I share with you my 21 BEST tools to create, repurpose and manage content like a pro - so your clients are totally WOWED by the content you create for them 🤩 LINK IN BIO to download! . . . . . #womenwhocreate #communityovercompetition #girlboss #entrepreneurmindset #hustleandheart #mycreativebiz #bossbabe #digitalnomadgirls #contentstrategy #smallbusinesslove #womenentrepreneurs #videomarketing #businesscoach #femalebusinesscoach #instagramforbusiness #contentrepurposing #businessconsultant #femaleceo #womeninbusiness #contentwriter #socialmediamarketingtips #contenttips #virtualassistantforcreatives #vaservices #vacoach #freelancingfemales #virtualassistants
"I just want to have a job that will let me work from anywhere!" I still remember when I said those exact words. I was on my evening bike ride home from work. I'd moved from Canada to Amsterdam (hence the cycling commute) to end the long-distance and pursue a relationship with a guy I'd met traveling. The whole living in Europe thing? Fantastic! The job I'd secured to be able to move there? Not the greatest 😅 It was a property-management startup where I worked booking guests into Airbnbs. I spent my days copying and pasting customer service email templates and dealing with annoyed tourists seeking refunds. SO not my zone of genius 🙅🏼♀️ And while I eventually got a better job at a marketing firm, those words on my evening commute home stayed with me. 𝗜𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘇𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲? To be honest, I never had huge ambitions as an entrepreneur. I mostly just wanted the opportunity to work from wherever without worrying how that would affect my job. But now, we're three years later, and I'm still here. And my business has evolved into a LOT more than just trying to make enough on freelancing sites to be able to stay in Europe without a work visa. When I started my business back in 2018 as a Virtual Assistant, I had NO idea what I was getting into, really. There were sleepless nights, challenging clients, and months I SERIOUSLY considered calling entrepreneurship quits and getting a JOB. But I knew if I just kept going, I'd find my way. Since then, I've niched down into content, served dozens of clients, invested in myself, got serious about Instagram, booked out my services, started to grow a team...it's been a wild and exhilarating ride. There's been a lot of ups, downs, and a whole lot of lessons along the way. But I wouldn't change my entrepreneurship journey for the world 🌍 Tell me...what was your main motivation for becoming an entrepreneur?

I don't know who needs to hear this but BUSY FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS is not a niche! That's all of us lol 🤷🏼♀️ The best way to figure out your niche is to ask yourself the following questions: WHAT problem do I solve? WHO do I solve it for? To actually book out your services and connect with clients you LOVE serving, you have to go beyond helping people with "whatever they need". I did that for way too long and it was exhausting. Not to mention, it's getting harder and harder to stand out as a general VA or all-rounder marketing freelancer. You've got to get a little bit craftier these days and think about what's going to give you your EDGE. Entrepreneurs want to hire service providers who can confidently solve their problems. COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHER CONTENT PROS? 🤔 Listen up and take notes. 📝 Whenever we start something new or become bombarded with new information, it’s easy to spy on what everyone else is doing and laser focus on what we’re missing. This SO common when it comes to creating content for your own business. Especially if you’re comparing yourself to the “experts” in your industry. Let’s be real - there are some AMAZING folks creating some awe-inspiring content out there, and it’s easy to like you’ll never measure up 😭 I want you to know there’s nothing wrong with you. You might just be suffering from content comparison-itis. So how do you fix it? Try these 4 strategies 👇🏻 1️⃣ Fix your mindset. 2️⃣ Figure out what sets you apart. 3️⃣ Practice, practice, practice. 4️⃣ Limit content consumption. It’s time to STOP comparing yourself to others and start creating content that gets you known as the go-to person in your niche. Tell me… which one of these strategies are you resonating with for ditching content comparison-itis? #contentbyem #contentmanager #contentstrategist #contentcreator #contentmarketing #contentrepurposing #onlinebusinessmanager #solopreneur #socialmediamanager #futureofwork #beyourownboss #fempreneur #entrepreneurmindset #hustleandheart #mycreativebiz #smallbusinesslove #bossbabes #growyourbusiness #theeverygirl #contentstrategy #contentplanning #videomarketing #businesscoach #businesscoaching #contenttools #businesstools #businesstool #automateandgrow #virtualassistantforcreatives #virtualassistantlife
👀 where are all the male VAs? Oh wait...most of them don't use that title. Friends - there is NOTHING wrong with being a VA. VAs do the most incredible work online. So many businesses could not function without them! But when I see postings like... "LOOKING FOR A UNICORN VA! Must know FB ads, be great at social media engagement, create content for Instagram and my blog & set up my email marketing" Y'all...that is not a VA job. That is a client looking for a marketer at VA rates. And we've got to stop accepting it. I talk about men and women because the gender pay gap is more pronounced than ever in the freelancer space. In fact, the gender pay gap sits at a whopping 56% in the US for self-employed individuals! While there are a ton of factors that go into it, I believe that one of them is because as women, we're often more comfortable in supporting roles (especially when we're just starting out). Men feel more confident to use a title like "Digital Marketer" or "SEO specialist" right off the bat while women will feel the need to work longer before claiming their expertise. SO, they cling on to labels like VA for a LOT longer...when they're actually doing higher-level work. And because of that, they tend to take on lower-paying jobs. I know because I did the same - I was doing web design, email marketing, social media, and content work - but I used the term VA because I was afraid about what it would mean to step up and claim my expertise. There's NOTHING wrong with starting off as a VA to get your feet wet in the online world, try a bunch of tasks, and see what you like best before specializing. But you've been around the block, are doing marketing work, and still using the title VA, you might want to explore what other titles you can use. Here are a few ideas 👇🏼 Content Manager Social Media Manager Podcast Manager Engagement Specialist Digital Marketer Content Writer Email Marketing Specialist Depending on what you do of course! If you are a VA considering specializing, what's holding you back? And if you're a fellow VA that decided to niche down and switch up your title, say hi below 👋🏼

"How many hashtags should I use?!" "What time should I post?" "Is grid planning in? Is it out?" So often, we stress about things that in the grand scheme of things, DON'T MATTER. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying hashtags or your grid aesthetic don't affect your Instagram growth at all. But if trying to get things "right" on Instagram, is holding you back from showing up authentically, is making marketing your business feeling like a chore and joy suck...it's time to ditch the rules 🙅🏼♀️ Focus on showing up for your audience and on sharing genuine, high-quality content that serves your ideal clients...RATHER than obsessively trying to figure out the latest IG hack or how to "beat the algorithm" As @kimberlyking said in your latest live stream collab "Let it be fun!". Try something out, experiment, play - there's no need to take it so seriously. And when things feel light and fun, they become THAT much easier to stay consistent with! Who else is over trying to master the Instagram rules and ready to let it be FUN?
Clickup or Airtable aren’t systems. Systems are the PROCESSES you use to come up with results repeatedly and consistently! Airtable, Trello or Clickup are just tools. When I say you need to create a content system, I don't really care which tool you use to manage your content. I've tried quite a few, and each of them has its pros and cons. But you need to create a system that works FOR YOU to: Content Plan: how do you come up with content ideas? How do you store them? How do you choose which ones to execute on? Create + Repurpose Content: how do you go about creating HIGH-VALUE, long-form content? How do you break that down into micro-content? What does your content creation process look like on each platform? Publish + Optimize: what are the steps you take to properly publish and schedule across platforms? What tools do you use to streamline and automate these processes? How do you optimize each piece of content when it goes out so you get the MAXIMUM results on each platform? It's easy for people to preach about "being consistent" but if you don't know what your process looks like for each of the steps above, it's going to be tough to consistently put out high-quality content that brings in leads and keeps you top of mind for your ideal clients. Wanna steal my content system (and the one I use for all my 1-1 clients)? Head to the link in my bio and download the Content Powerhouse Method Guide! I'll walk you through my proprietary method that I use to plan, repurpose and publish content like a pro! Using this system has allowed me to CONSISTENTLY show up online and attract leads + clients, while simultaneously creating content for my repurposing studio clients too. Get the guide in the LINK IN BIO! Do you have a content system? What does it look like?
Be honest...do you know the lifespan of the content you’re creating? 🤔 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You spend SO many precious hours creating social media content, but is it really worth all that time and effort if it’s gonna end up in a content graveyard in less than 24 hours? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let’s think about your content’s lifespan on some of the main channels: 👉🏻 Instagram is roughly 21 hours. 👉🏻 Facebook is 5 hours. 👉🏻 Twitter is 18 minutes. 👉🏻 LinkedIn is 24 hours. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So that means on these platforms, your audience MAY only see your beautifully, curated content for less than for 24 hours. And that’s generous when you consider your content’s lifespan on Twitter and Facebook. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, that doesn’t mean you should ditch your social media channels! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You just need to create a content strategy that extends your content’s life expectancy AND still drives traffic, builds your email list, and generates leads for your business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But how? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Find simple ways to REPURPOSE YOUR CONTENT. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So instead of exhausting yourself creating content that’ll collect dust in less than 24 hours, repurpose it to achieve the greatest ROI on your time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've created a FREE roadmap for you to 25x your content and turn 1 piece of content into 25! Get it in the LINK IN BIO ☝🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Does your content strategy go beyond social media? . . . . . . #contentbyem #contentmanager #contentstrategist #contentcreator #contentmarketing #contentrepurposing #onlinebusinessmanager #solopreneur #socialmediamanager #futureofwork #beyourownboss #goaldigger #communityovercompetition #fempreneur #entrepreneurmindset #hustleandheart #mycreativebiz #smallbusinesslove #bossbabes #growyourbusiness #theeverygirl #contentstrategy #contentplanning #videomarketing #businesscoach
