Our past is a culmination of the experiences and people who have shaped us into the person we are today. Our journey begins the moment that we are born. Our likes and dislikes, our dreams, and our feelings are ignited the moment we are born. I can remember as a young child this photo that my mother had on her dresser that both intrigued me and frightened me. My mother was guarded with her story, which only intrigued me more. Digging into her past and learning more about her experiences gave me a better sense of who I am as a woman, a wife, and mother. Writing my mother’s story encouraged me to examine my journey and determine where I wanted to go next. Her story is an essential piece of my past and a guiding light to my future. 
What are you doing to protect the environment that we’ve been given? I would love to hear. I have several passions-- my family, sharing stories, fitness, and nature. They all give meaning to my life and keep me moving forward. Taking care of Mother Earth is essential for us to thrive and sustain ourselves. As brothers and sisters on this planet, it’s our responsibility to care for her and her history so we can continue writing our futures. How do you help the Mother we all share? 
Self-love and self-care are big talking points lately. How do you find self-love? For me, self-love isn’t about material things. If you want to love yourself from within, you need to embrace your story, including your past successes and shame. Have you ever taken the time to be alone with yourself - without distractions - and started writing to see what comes up for you? My writing coach, Renate, calls it, “Stepping out of the way.” Grab a quiet space - journal and pen in hand - and see what pours out of you. That is the beginning of your story. Stay curious and be well.
