While we continue to seek justice for Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd and the countless other black men and boys slain, please remember the black women and girls that were also murdered from white supremacy as well. Lift them up in the highest prayer and call out their names as well. Korryn Gaines. Shukri Ali. Sandra Bland. Breonna Taylor. Charleena Lyles. Ayana Stanley Jones. Rekia Boyd. Tanisha Anderson. Michelle Cusseaux. Shelly Frey. Eleanor Bumper. Tyisha Miller. Kendra James. Gabriella Navarez. Atatiana Jefferson. Malissa Williams. Shantel Daevis. Darnisha Harris. Natasha McKenna… and many more. We speak your names too forever and always. 🤜🏽 🌍 Beauty by Bilal will be offering 10 self care kits to black men and women in the months of June and July. Black lives have always mattered us. The world is now in mourning, even as a little change is beginning to take place. More specifically black people of African descent are grieving. Heavily. This pain is centuries if not millenniums long. From the first stolen beautiful person from the continent of Africa, to the boulevards of Minneapolis, Los Angeles, to Rio in Brazil and globally; there is residual, daily pain even amidst our joy. As a black woman owned business, it is IMPERATIVE to me that we support the businesses that we create. While we may be small, we have always given back in the form of self care to our majority black customers and residents of the city of Atlanta. Due to undergoing the trauma that black men and women face, which is often daily, it is critical that we learn to take time away for self preservation. Difficult as it may be. Trauma and toxic stress from racism is scientifically proven to weaken our bodies organs, alter our DNA 🧬 and brains 🧠 thereby shortening our life spans substantially. Beauty by Bilal was birthed out pain following a scaring and traumatic incident in 2016. I took my feelings and emotions as a black woman, sister and mother and transmuted it into pure LOVE. I built a business bearing my fathers SELF chosen name; Bilal. While honoring my foremothers with their fabulous at home in-the-kitchen-and-bathroom beauty secrets. I took my childhood love of makeup/skincare, plant 🌱 medicine 🔬 and botany, from my ancestors. More closely from my grandfather, a self taught horticulturist, who could not afford to attend college, and my mother, a self taught designer and gardener supreme. From their example, plus my father’s quest for an entrepreneurship legacy, Beauty by Bilal was created.
