  • My last post was October 2019. A lot has been going on behind social media and I’m finally in a place where I can talk about it. Last Summer and Fall were huge for our family. Over the summer we found out I had skin cancer. It was directly under my eye and that meant seeing different specialists because we were worried removing the mole could cause nerve damage. As photographer that was terrifying. Since I was in the middle of our summer wedding season we pushed the surgery out to early November so I could photograph all of our weddings/events. At the time I thought this was the worst thing that could happen. Im in my 20s, I don’t go tanning I always wear sunblock how could this happen?! Nothing could be worse right? Life is funny that way. Early October my dad got sick. What started off as a bad cough, fever of 102 degrees and respiratory distress (sounds familiar right?) turned into being helicoptered to the ICU at hopkins where the infectious disease team never quite figured out what was wrong. He ended up intubated and in a medically induced coma. During the week I slept in the ICU with my dad spending the days washing his face, rubbing his feet and the nights working on nursing school prereqs. On the weekends I shot weddings/events with a smile and sobbed on the way back to him. Every father daughter dance hit that much harder. Not only did I have cancer but my dad was dying. It was a nightmare. I never posted anything because I didn’t want clients to worry. Galleries were sent out late, replies took longer and every client handled it with such grace and I’m so thankful for you all. Getting this sick took such a toll on his body. I thought “there is nothing worse than him being in the ICU like this” and life threw another curveball at us...Continued in comments

  • Throw back to last summer. Antonio is now just about as tall as Scott 😳 —Happy Father’s Day my love. You care for all of us with such grace. I am so thankful for your patience, kindness and thoughtfulness. 8 years ago before we even started dating you said to my sister “I’m going to marry her.” You knew before I did that we were supposed to happen. My heart needed you. Thank you for welcoming every cat into our home 😂 Thank you for always supporting my dreams. Thank you for growing with me. ❤️ 📷 @rebekahemilyphoto
