When I photographed my first #abbygraceballerinas session in 2013, I had no way of knowing that it would become a shaping force in the AGP brand. All I knew was that I had this incessant need to create work based on the years I spent in the ballet studio, and so I did just that! I went out and I created, and I found out that photographing ballerinas satisfied a longing I'd been feeling ever since I stopped dancing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And now here we are in 2019, and it brings me more joy than I can possibly express when my brides who ALSO spent years in the ballet studio bring their pointe shoes on their wedding day! Two gorgeous pairs of shoes, both worn for different reasons, both significant in their own right. And I *love* photographing them together, knowing exactly how much hard work and time went into waiting for the opportunity to wear BOTH pairs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👰🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To all my future ballerina brides, please know that bringing your last pair of Russian Pointes, Grishkos, Freeds or Blochs will always, always be a welcome sight on the wedding of your morning! These particular pairs belong to the darling @gabrielaphoenix 💕
I LOVE it when my brides and grooms build in time for us to have fun on their wedding day! One of the best pieces of advice I can give any bride- and groom-to-be is to *build breathing room into your timeline!!*⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⏱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's a guarantee that on a wedding day, simple tasks like gathering the bridal party or putting on your dress will take longer than you think- so rather than packing every minute of the day with activity, give yourself a bit of downtime. A few minutes here and there allows room for me to get a little more creative than if we're constantly running up against the clock, which helps create magical photographs like this one! And even better, it helps YOU slow down and savor, instead of rushing through your day at a hundred miles an hour. Win-win situation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (P.S. can we get a double tap for these PUMPED UP flower girls? Their energy is so fun!) 🍾 Gorgeous bride @jordanahinke phenomenal planning (with an amazing timeline) by @elleellinghausdesign florals by @myflowerbox beauty by @amiedeckerbeauty
Will literally photography these two ANY time I have the chance! But especially in the light of that bay window. These are the sort of anniversary portraits I love capturing the most- ones that feel real, true-to-life. Less Pinterest, more personal. ❤️ K + E, thank you for always being you. It truly gets better every time I have you guys in front of my camera- you both constantly remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. Endlessly grateful for you both.
You knew it was going to happen... From this little Mandrake and Hermione Granger, wishing you a happy Halloween, friends! #harrypotterforever #harrypotterhalloween #platform9¾
Interrupting my own curated, pastel feed with this munchkin because THE NATIONALS ARE PLAYING IN THE WORLD SERIES GAME 7 TONIGHT!! Who else will be glued to their screen of choice beginning at 8:08pmET? It’s been a crazy series so far, I can’t wait to see how it all ends tonight! ⚾️ Also, props to my Pawpaw who picked out this adorable outfit for Felix- dying. Just dying. ⚾️ N-A-T-S Nats Nats Nats!! #stayinthefight
Have you ever put on another person's Rainbow flip flops? It feels funky, doesn't it? Because those leather sandals are worn in all the wrong spots for *your* feet, but all the right spots for theirs. It takes one, maybe two steps in a pair of someone else's Rainbows to realize you picked up the wrong pair of sandals. • But entrepreneurs- we do this with other people's brands and businesses, don't we? We look at what someone else has built, and we do our best to wear it in our own business- maybe it's that someone else loves high fashion, or the photographer next door shoots a ton of destination weddings in Europe, or how that business owner over there is really into the dark and moody editing style so we think that means we need to try it, too. We take what works for them and try to force it to work for us. And like an ill-fitting pair of sandals, it may function for a little while, but eventually it starts to rub you raw. It feels disingenuous, awkward, clunky. • I used to do this exact thing with my work- I thought the fine art approach had to mean dead-pan stares into the camera, wistful expressions, and over-the-top, unrealistic details. But I am none of those things, and neither is my work! I take *such* joy in capturing exuberant warmth and thoughtfulness, nose-crinkling smiles and head-tossed-back laughs. And once I learned to put on my own pair of proverbial Rainbow sandals, I finally fell in love with my own work without worrying about what everyone else was wearing. • Head shot of @delanieandco taken during our workshop in France, @thesignatureatelier #abbygracebrandportraits
Gabriela you are an absolute Baroque VISION in that gold gown!! And add to it the fact that she also brought a pair of her pointe shoes for me to photograph with her details? Dream bride, through and through. That sweet, blissful smile on Jack's face was there from first look to final sparkler exit- it was SUCH a privilege to capture it all last weekend!! Most people would look at this photo and see just one mother... but I see two. I see the one who loves, adores, and cares for the needs of Felix now, and I see evidence of the one who loved, adored, and cared for his needs during the first nine months of his life. ❤️ I see the mother who is currently learning to give grace to herself during sleep-deprived days, and I see evidence of the one who had to learn to give grace to herself while making the hardest decision she'll likely ever face. 🧡 I see such joy in my son's face from being loved on the outside, and I see traces of his birth mom in the shapes of his tiny little fingers and toes, in the beautiful color of his eyes- traits he inherited from her while being lovingly knit together within her. 💛 I see me, and I see her. 💚 This redemptive story full of beauty, grace, strife and freedom is still being written, and I am so very grateful that she is part of it. 💙 Photograph the incomparable @emilygeraldphotography #springmannjourneytobaby #mykindredstory #adoptiontriad #adoptionislove
