In my lineage of Rootwork, summer is ruled by "Da Heat."⠀ We need heat, but too much heat can make things dry up; that is why the elders would always caution in "spring fling's leading to summer shame" Summer is a time of growth, focusing on the element of joy, and I know many folks would think that it would be a time out to have fun. ⠀ ⠀ But the Elders would always say have good spiritual awareness between "da heart and your coochie in the summa time" Mama Iola, who was one of my primary mentors, used to say that "da mind dont function right when it's too damn hot." ⠀ ⠀ That way, you see fights and riots plenty; she would say, "da mind cant get no right focus," so always work on " da mind " during this season. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ In Rootwork, summer heat belongs to Fire, and strengthening the heart not to be foolish and healthy was part of seasonal rituals.
