• Reese Berlin / Hamilton / 2nd year SASAH + English Language and Literature⁣ ⁣ On English: Reading was my first love. I have always had a deep fascination with what literature has to offer in juxtaposition with my love of storytelling and vibrant imagination; my creative energy has always been drawn to reading and writing. Since I can remember, I’ve craved stories. Some of my fondest childhood memories revolved around being immersed in stories: bedtime stories, creating imaginary worlds with my little sister as we played, and falling in love with the power of words despite the obstacles dyslexia had set out for me early on in life. My mom was also an English major and instilled her love of Shakespeare into me. My little sister and I would watch “Shakespeare: The Animated Tales” at home or during the occasional car ride. I loved that series despite how it traumatized me when the opening scene of Hamlet started playing automatically after a Winter’s Tale...let’s just say it was too much bloodshed for a morning car ride to preschool!⁣ ⁣ ⁣On SASAH: SASAH has been the heart of my university experience. I was drawn to the program because of my fascination with what the Arts and Humanities have to offer, interest in the program’s interdisciplinary approach, and how it presents a wonderful opportunity to work with a small group of creative, inquisitive and like-minded individuals. Not only do I believe that SASAH has and continues to shape me into a more well-rounded person and student, I also know that it will serve as the catalyst for a lifelong engagement with the Arts and Humanities, knowledge, and learning.⁣ ⁣ ⁣On other involvement: I’m a Residence Advisor and the incoming Don on the SASAH Living-Learning Community Floor, which is very full circle for me because I lived on that floor in first year and it holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I met my SASAH wife @c.assels⁣ ⁣ I am the Associate Vice President Presidential on the Arts and Humanities Students’ Council where I work alongside and support the President and Executive members to oversee all of council, hire First Year Associates and Residence Representatives, and supervise the first year transition.
