So it IS Halloween and she's pulling witchy faces... BUT Susie tells me this is about Ecobricks! She's been collecting and washing plastic that can't be recycled. Cutting it up, and stuffing it into a bottle... This bottle holds: 4 plastic bags 3 Mars bar wrappers 3 Twix wrappers 2 plastic microwave meal tubs 7 food wrapper bags Soooo many crisp packets!! 1 tube of toothpaste 2 plastic bottle tops 1 enormous empty bag of epsom bath salts Various others she can't remember She won't let us buy our lunches from the supermarket (too many single-use plastics) and cooked us our lunch (result!). Ecobricks can be used in construction at various projects in the UK. It's designed so that the plastics won't get into the waterways: even if the construction was taken apart, the bottle should remain entact. So while it's been a bit painful to see all the plastics hanging around while they get washed and dried, I get the feeling this isn't going to be a passing fad... and it's helping us as a business get closer to our aim to be as carbon neutral as we can possibly be [goes off to look at electric cars].
