Anyone know how to read a sundial? Our guess this one says: Three bottles of Betera outside on a nice, sunny California day. 📷 kortizphoto

Cinchona Bark, as illustrated by @cmarchino. Our Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus both feature this historically significant ingredient. The bark from the Cinchona tree has long contained medicinal qualities. More specifically, the ground bark contains quinine, among other things, one of the earliest cures for malaria. Native to South America's Andes, the seeds of Cinchona trees were smuggled by traders into England and India in the 19th century to meet the growing medical demand. The bitter-tasting Cinchona bark (with quinine) administered with soda water and sugar, the earliest form of tonic water. Alcohol followed soon after, as another way to consume the medicine. Unchecked, over-consumption of quinine turned out to not be the right medicine. Today's tonic waters include roughly 80 parts per million quinine and more than 120 calories. Betera drinks have about 8ppm and 16 calories. Cinchona plays its own part in making our drinks balanced, bitter, and unique. 💫💫💫 Thank you again to Chris for partnering on the art. xx

A few weeks ago, we got a note from Coleen D, one of our new favorite people. She had just tried her first Betera, cracking open a bottle of Elderflower-Lime. Coleen proceeded to send us updates as she tasted all of the flavors, giving us the kind of joy that would make Marie Kondo blush. Running a startup is challenging, so hearing things like this is always incredible. Welcome to the fam, Coleen, and everyone else who finds joy in Betra.

1. What's the Elderflower-Lime taste like? 2. A delicious lightning bolt filled with citrus, lemongrass, elderflower, and a little tonic kind of finish. 1. Lightning bolts don't have a flavor. 2. If they did, they'd taste like this. 1. It would be pretty cool to put lightning in a bottle. 2. Betera did. 1. You must work for Betera. 2. They pay me with free drinks. 1. Free bottled lightning. 2. Exactly.
