• Rob made a comment whilst scrolling through my Instagram last night that “it looks like it never rains here” 😆 We have a motto of #whatevertheweather meaning we get outside no matter what. But some days the weather here is pretty crap if I’m really honest. ⠀⠀ Like the time we took the inlaws to Giants Causeway at the end of August and it was just plain awful weather 😑 like I’m talking sideways rain that literally soaked our clothes (but only on the one side). The wind howled as we trudge down the road from the parking lot to the stones. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a sense of humor failure about the weather like I did that day. Usually I’m the first one who can see the funny side of it, laugh it off and chalk it up to adding to the memories but it was just plain yuck to be out there in that.   • Today I had one of those “Shit, I am so blessed to be alive and well and happy” moments. It kinda washed over me as I walked and took in such a wonderful blue sky day. I exhaled a huge weight that had been kinda sitting on my shoulders & on my heart for a while. I took a giant breath in, filling my lungs with what felt like to me, a beautiful hug from myself to myself. I can’t really explain the sensation but after 4 months away from work and the usual office politics, and 3 months of raising my beautiful child... I just feel at peace for the first time in a long time. I feel happy where I am, grateful for this time that have to look after baby and most importantly - learning that being a good mom means looking after me too. Often a lot of them are stroller friendly 👏🏻Except when we went to Reenagross Park in Kenmare - anyone see my stories of the two guys carrying the stroller up the hill? Hilarious, and what I now call extreme strollering.   • Making lists and ticking things off - setting up ideas and working on a step by step plan - being organized AF. These are literally my fave things to do in life. Being a mom has taught me a ton of patience and learning to accept that the plan might not always go to plan. And that’s been a stressful adjustment because sometimes all I want to do is plan more shit, when actually it’s probably better to just wait and see how the things we’ve already planned work out. ⠀⠀ I feel like I’m rambling ... but what I came on here to say was today was a fairly productive, unproductive day. I’m learning to embrace these days more and more now. My baby is growing so fast and with a blink of an eye, she is growing and changing more and more each day. It’s heartbreaking and exciting all at the same time. I’ve squeezed her a lot today - enjoying every moment I have with her.   • Going into the first full week of 2020 and I know a lot of people have been sharing their New Years resolutions, goals, words to guide them for the new year. ⠀⠀ Last year was the first time in a few years that I gave all that up and said no to setting ANY goals. Little did I know then that 2019 was going to be my biggest year yet - growing a baby, birthing a baby and then keeping a baby alive. ⠀⠀ This year I’m going into 2020 with the same plan as last year - there is no plan. I think the space I allowed myself last year, to just kinda see what happens, really led me to having a pretty special year. I think I’m learning as I get older that life is more than just a few goals each year.
