I've been feeling myself drawn more and more back to the Underhive in recent times. And while I was again dealing with flooding and moving all my hobby space to a different room I listened to the entire back catalogue of @sump_city_radio and The Dome Runners podcasts chronologically alongside each other. Fully caught up a few days ago and I'm really itching for more. Necromunda news, reviews and lore. Awesome guests talking about hobby and tactics. In world/character skits/narratives and advertisements with a blend of GrimDark and comedy. The guys on both these shows have put in some amazing work and were truly entertaining while I was slogging and shifting all my furniture, boxes and hobby gear. I was thrice lucky with this damned box game... First time lucky, with constant gw site crashes, my Internet dropping, items selling out in basket and having to start over. I finally managed to secure a copy at 10.20 on release day. Second time lucky, it actually arrived today after the announcement it was going to be delayed for many. Third time lucky, the baby is teething and off and on screaming. I didn't hear the door, late in the morning I saw the posties red card of disappointment by the door then near had a heart attack that the parcel had been left exposed on the doorstep all morning! But I am grateful it turned out well in the end. I've been excited about this release since the first sneak peeks. Been meaning to post this for a while since the video went up. I was invited to collaborate as part of Team @terrainosaur in a painting challenge. We had to follow one of the painting tutorials by the awesome YouTuber Juan Hidalgo @jh.miniaturas in an attempt to replicate his style. I have very little experience with Contrast Paints and this is far removed from my own comfort zone in painting, but I do like to try out new techniques. I decided choosing one tutorial for a portion of the miniature and finishing the rest in mybown style wasn't on. So I picked several from Juan's catalogue in my attempt to complete these figures in his style: How to Paint - Ghosts, Ethereal steel, Gold armour, Rusted metal, Bones and Painted sand bases. I'm happy with how my attempt turned out. Definitely room for improvement. If you want to know what Juan had to say about my work and the other members of the team. I recently managed to pick up a whole assortment of awesomeness from Julian Bayliss who is still in the process of clearing out his tabletop collection. I'm a big fan of Julian's monochromatic grimdark painting style and inspiring conversions. I set out to pick up just a couple of converted figures that caught my eye: Lion mounted goblin warlord. His version of Mad Donna Ulanti. Some of his chaos thug/dwarf figures. Then somehow convinced myself to also pick up an undead warband... It's been deceptively quiet around here since getting my hobby space back. I am (contrary to how it looks) actually in the middle of hobby work prepping parts I need for a project I am doing with/for somebody, more on that at a later date. Another project that needs me to make a load of cables... It did give me the chance this evening to build a little tool out of plasticard/styrene card and rod, a socket/saddle that I could better use my old Masq-minis Tube Tool plates that I had dug out of the back of the drawer and that had fallen out of use over time. So that's something. But I do need to work on getting back into the habit of posting as I work again. I was just checking out the new previews when I saw the new Champion of Slaanesh and was like: "Ha... At least I know I was on the right track with the aesthetic I was going for!" I started making a small warband for AoS Skirmish, but it was one of those projects I lost my initial drive and they were put away for another day. I really ought to get back to them sometime. I recently commissioned Ana of @gardensofhecate to create one of her beautiful mummified saint relic boxes for me. Something I've wanted to do for a long while. The piece I asked her to create was inspired by the Cynocephalic (dog-headed) St. Christopher as he was sometimes depicted historically in Eastern Orthodoxy. I've always found it really fascinating. It's absolutely amazing, Ana completely blew away my expectations when it was revealed. I was so excited I could barely contain myself while it was in transit. And the presentation of the package when it arrived, amazing! This wasn't just a purchase of an item for my collection. This is a wonderful little piece of art I will treasure and a wonderful experience. W.I.P. I started making this miniature a little while ago... I suppose it's a Djinn or Daemonic entity maybe . I was recently organising a big bag of Sylvaneth bits I'd picked up on Ebay and then started playing with the bits and sort of making shapes. I decided it would be fun to challenge myself to make a complete figure from that bits selection. But I was only allowed to use those miniature bits no other kits, the only other things allowed would be jewellery making bits and anything else scratch built. This was my entire reason for the story shout out I did asking for tips in making flames. A big thank you to everyone who got in contact with suggestions, I haven't got around to trying any of them out yet, but this is where they're intended to be used. The smoke was something I wanted to try out. It's expanding foam applied over a wire frame I bent into shape coiling around beneath the torso.
