This was me five years ago. My husband and I were in the ER because I had just been told that I had an ectopic pregnancy. We were heartbroken, but tried to keep our minds distracted. I told him I looked like ET with a glowing finger and he took this picture of me to send to our family to let them know that I was okay.⠀

One week later I was told by my doctor that I may have had a regular pregnancy, not an ectopic. That the methotrexate they gave me would most likely cause a miscarriage. And if a miscarriage didn’t happen, there would most likely be severe birth defects.⠀
What?⠀
This all happened 8 months after our first miscarriage. We had experienced loss before, but not loss that may have been prevented. Not loss that was caused by medical treatment that I was told I needed.⠀
It did eventually end in another miscarriage. Looking back, I know that the doctors did what they felt was best at the time for me and my safety. But, if I would have known that this was even a possibility, I would have been able to ask more questions. So many would have, could haves. That’s why I share my story. So that maybe you, or a friend, or a friend’s friend, can be informed and ask questions rather than imagining the what if’s.⠀
I also share because Whimsy + Wellness was started just a few months after this experience as a way to distract myself from the constant wonder of when I would be pregnant again. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that this business would be where it is today. That it would give me purpose and drive, something I didn’t think I would feel until I was called mom. I want to thank you, for giving me that. You have changed my life.⠀

And now as we get ready to celebrate Posey's 3rd birthday with her sister here, we are feeling thankful for the bumpy road that lead us to exactly where we are.⠀
