When I work on my pet portraits, I use pastels to give the depth of colour I want for the animal’s fur, especially black, like on this little cat I’m finishing off right now.
Pastels can form great depth with velvety layers, my favourite pastels are Pitt Pastel Pencils by Faber Castell @fabercastell

Working from my home studio is proving to have many benefits…
Not only being freed up more to produce work all week and having time to post more on IG and FB…
One of my favourite things to do is to walk to Caen Hill Cafe next to the Lock with Ruby at lunch time.
I often find that I end up in conversation with someone about being an artist and they end up as a new client…
Caen Hill Cafe sell my map, The Golden Hare Trail, and today I had a lovely conversation with someone that had just bought one who was visiting from Sheffield and had fallen in love with Wiltshire...
She couldn’t wait to come back and visit all the main landmarks on my map…
