Experimenting with some different fabric looks for the back of my hoops for spring. What do think? Is this a winner or should I stick with solids? #embroiderylove #loveabbiedesigns #ihavethisthingwiththread #embroideryartistsoninstagram

Systemic issues are made up of thousands of little choices that people make. What you do. What you don’t do. What you buy. What you don’t buy. What you post. What you don’t post. When you listen. When you don’t listen. In a world crying for more love, our little choices make a difference bigger than we realize. MLKJr knew that. He dreamed of a world that loved, that heard, that listened, that cared. I’m not here in this space to promote any political agenda. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. #unpopularopinion I don’t believe racism is an issue that politics can solve. It’s a heart matter, and it will only be solved through wholehearted acceptance and love. And the truth is that hurting, broken hearts can’t love wholeheartedly. We naturally seek to preserve self instead of caring for others. If you want to change the world, maybe ease off the critical memes and spend some more focus on healing your wounds.. because a healthy heart? It loves. Oh it loves so widely. So fully. So generously. It sees the heart in people beyond the actions and it pours out to them. Love people. Love yourself. #mlkquotes #mlkjrquotes #mlkjrday #loveabbiedesigns #pursuepretty #greatthingsinasmallway #dogreatthings

My most and least liked hoops of 2020. Most liked: Juliette Rose. I adore this hoop and apparently you all did too! Cheers to all the blush pink goodness. 💛 Least liked: Lake sunset. Although this little guy didn’t resonate with as many people, and it was one of the only 2 hoops in my 30 day challenge that didn’t sell, it will remain my personal favorite hoop of that entire challenge. The artistic energy took me for a ride with this one and the entire process made me feel so alive and one with the process. I wouldn’t take any amount of money for it now. It has a place of honor in my little studio and it never fails to bring a smile whenever I look at it. And that’s just how art is. Some pieces are for the people and some are simply for the joy of the art. Which one do you like best? Do you agree with the decision of the masses? #loveabbiedesigns #embroideryart #embroideryinthehoop #embroideryartwork #floralillustration #minimalartwork #psimadethis #doitfortheprocess #creativityovercompetition

Day 10 In Nordic countries they have a Christmas tradition called Julenak. On Christmas morning, a bundle of grain is hung on the front door to provide a special Christmas meal for the birds. It’s a beautiful tradition I first heard about in Bernadine Beatie’s classic (tear-jerking!) story “A Sheaf of Grain” and I haven’t thought about it in ages. But this morning, I was fighting creative fatigue and not feeling at all inspired by any of the designs I had planned to stitch today. My go-to remedy for creative fatigue is nature. It just fills and inspires my soul and clears all the cobwebs out of my brain so I can find inspiration again. I slipped out for a quick 10 minute walk on the railroad tracks behind my house. It was crisp, cold, and blissfully quiet with dainty little flakes— more air than snow— drifting down. As my mind started to clear a movement in the brush caught my eye and there was a whole flock of cardinals busily eating in a lovely waving stand of tall grass. Instantly I thought of the Julenak, and the vision for this modern minimal version was born. I’m loving all the minimal Christmas decor I’m seeing this year and I’m envisioning this embroidered wreath being the perfect “unstatement” piece to create holiday magic in a room without making it over the top. Someone buy it quick before I chicken and decide to keep it. 🤣 Day 10 of 12. This one is a 12 inch hoop, stitched on 100% natural, un-dyed linen. Available on my site until it’s not! PS I’m upgrading all orders to FedEx 2-day for free! The USPS is awesome but they’ve got way too much on their plate, so I’m cutting that ship deadline a bit early. ALSO Sunday is the last day to purchase from my shop, and then I’m taking off to spend time with family, so don’t wait too long to put your orders in! 😘 #holidaytraditions #christmasdecorating #minimalchristmas #minimalchristmasdecor #grasswreath #embroideryinthehoop #embroiderymagazine🔅 #embroideredwreath #zbesties #doitfortheprocess #embroidermay #christmasdecorating #loveabbiedesigns
