Despite the heat, Magnolia have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming violin performance next week. They have worked so hard on plucking, bow control and reading different notes. They cannot wait to share their musical skills with their parents and carers. Thank you to Miss Windram @musicaleuk for her fantastic violin lessons, we have all enjoyed every second of it.

Redwood class were delighted to be invited by our Nursery children who had chosen some of their favourite books. Reading together was an absolute pleasure and we all had the best time. The Year 6s commented that it was lovely revisiting some of their favourite books from when they were nursery age. @thegroveinfants

Year 5 had a special treat this week with a visit to the Harpenden Recycling Centre on Dark Lane - conveniently located next door to school! It was brilliant to make our Geography topic of sustainability come to life, learning about how much of what we throw away is recycled. We also got to see the large digger in action which was quite a thrill!

Acacia class (Year 5) went to visit Oak this week @thegroveinfants where we supported them with their Scratch animations too. Again, it is great to start to make links with our buddies for next year. We look forward to seeing Oak for a shared playtime soon.

This term, we have been collaborating with @thegroveinfants on Computing projects. Mulberry, Year 5, went to visit Pine this week and helped out with their Scratch animations on saving the environment for endangered animals. It was delightful to see the Year 5s get to know their buddy classes, ready for the Year 2 transition process.

Year 3 had a wonderful visit from @harpendendentalcentre this week. Rachel the dentist taught them many interesting facts about teeth and how to look after them. They had a go at brushing correctly using a timer and a mirror. The disclosing tablets were fun to see where we need to brush more carefully and they took a goodie bag home with them. Thank you for your visit Rachel!

Year 5 have been learning about Fauvism this week. We used our knowledge of colour mixing to recreate images from the Fauvist period. We had to sketch and match colours carefully so that we could reproduce the pictures as accurately as possible. Here are some examples from Mulberry.

Well done to our Year 4 who represented our school this half-term.
Congratulations to both our Y4 football teams... Both boys and girls were the winners of the HDSA tournament. We are very proud of how our boys and girls represented The Grove showing our 3R’s all the time.
Our two tennis teams have shown some outstanding tennis rallies. One team finished second in their group and the other team third... the teams played against very strong opposition with ranked players.
Amazing performance from our Tri Golf team who did brilliantly finishing first and winning the Tri Golf tournament against other 9 schools.
We are very proud of all.

@skewb_climate @rafyouthengage Year 5 had a fantastic Minecraft workshop this week, led by the RAF STEM team - using the engagement of Minecraft Education, children were able to build shelters with different purposes and new power source generators. Thank you for the experience Brendan and Susan!
