Year 5 enjoyed a great 'Wow' day at @kwschoolharpenden to have a fun taster of what secondary school feels like. We enjoyed Science, Spanish, Music, Dance, PE and Art lessons. Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Batford Springs Nature Reserve, where they carried out a range of scientific and geographical enquiries about the River Lea.
Working in teams, the children investigated the river by measuring its width, depth and speed, while also exploring the plants, animals and structures found around it. Before setting off, each group carefully planned their enquiry, deciding what equipment they would need, assigning roles and considering how they would carry out their investigation safely and effectively.
The children worked incredibly hard throughout the day, demonstrating excellent teamwork, curiosity and problem-solving skills. Year 3 had a lot of fun last week using chopping, cutting and presentation skills to create their own fruit salad! They then evaluated them thinking about taste, texture and appearance! We were very grateful to receive an abundance of blackberries from a few families who had raided their gardens and allotments! Mrs Gillies' daughter, Evie, came in to talk to Year 6 about her trip to the Peru and the Amazon Rainforest. The children heard all about the different animals she encountered and what life in the Rainforest is really like.

After winning the Dynamos Cricket District and County events, this July our Year 6 girls had the amazing opportunity to play the Regionals at Essex Cricket Ground.
It was a fantastic experience to all of us and the PE Department can't think of a better way to finish our Year 6 Sport events year.
It has been an amazing journey and the PE Department would like to say thank you to all children who have taken part in sporting events, after school clubs, lunchtime clubs or PE lessons. Thank you for giving us the privilege of sharing these moments and memories with you.
Last but not least, we would like to say thank you to all the parents and carers. Some of you have travelled more than 1h30m so that children could take part in events. Without your support none of it could have been possible.

Year 4 had a fantastic time at Stanborough Lakes last week, after the heatwave delayed their original date.

There was a real buzz of excitement in the air as Magnolia, Cedar and Linden enjoyed an action-packed day of water sports. The children took part in a range of fantastic activities, including kayaking around the lake while competing to catch the most floating animals and working together to build their own rafts before testing them out on the water. Luckily, there was no capsizing or sinking to be seen!
The Year 4 team also had the opportunity to take part in stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Some children navigated around the lake on a giant SUP that could hold up to ten children at once, requiring fantastic teamwork, balance and communication skills.

Last week, Step came in and ran a fun-filled day all about getting ready for Year 7.
The children carried out team building games, reflected on friendships, considered their memories from primary school and thought about their emotions with regards to their transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
Thank you to @stepschoolswork for organising and running the day - the staff and children all thoroughly enjoyed it.
