The next generation of Mental Health Champions have been unveiled! Congratulations to our new Year 5 MHCs who proudly received their badges last week. Our Y6 MHCs have done a brilliant job for the last year and have been helping get the new generation ready as they take over the important role.

During lunchtimes, Mental Health Champions are there to support any of our children who might need some help - maybe they are having a bad day or they don't know how to join in a game. With special training, the Champions are there to support and give a happy smile! They certainly make our school a better place. Thank you to Miss Vettese who is our Mental Health lead for the children.

✨ Year 4 have been exploring Hindu deities this week! ✨

The class loved discovering the stories and symbolism behind Brahma, the creator. Saraswati, goddess of knowledge and music. Shiva, the powerful transformer. Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and good fortune.

They’ve been asking brilliant questions, making links between the deities and gathering fascinating facts to deepen their understanding of Hinduism. 🌺

16 of our Year 6 choir members have been working hard behind the scenes to learn songs and lyrics for the Rotary Carol Service. It was a fantastic event last week where the children represented The Grove beautifully, not just with their voices but also their manners and attitudes. Well done!

Christmas has definitely arrived early in Linden Class! 🎄💡

As part of our Design & Technology topic, the children have been busy becoming real-life product designers and the results are shining already!
This week, we began creating prototypes for our Christmas-themed lights. First, the children chose the shape of their shell structure — a cube, a cuboid or a cone. Then came the careful cutting, precise folding and neat sticking using tabs.

One of the trickiest (and most exciting!) challenges was deciding where to place the circuit inside their decoration and how to ensure the light would shine beautifully through their design.

We can’t wait to see these festive creations glowing proudly very soon.

Today Year 6 were looking at the characters from the Highwayman. They started off creating posters on their tables before delving deeper into the character of Tim the Ostler. They came up with words that could be used to describe him and then used those words to create sentences that describe not only his character but also the atmosphere that surrounds him.

This week Year 6 are learning about microbes: viruses, bacteria and fungi.  Once we had learnt about them, we used our knowledge to design and make our own: some are good, some are bad and some are deadly!

Redwood class have been channelling their inner 'cool' and are becoming great 'jazz cats'!

We noodled to the groovy 'Bacharach Anorak' by Ian Gray, using improvisation techniques. Our glockenspiels and tambourines have never felt so 'swing' - Nice!

This term, Year 6 are investigating why Christians see Jesus as the promised Messiah. They read an account of Jesus’ birth from Matthew’s Gospel looking for how Jesus fulfilled some of the expectations of the Messiah.
Then they thought of questions they could ask Mary and Joseph about the events on the night Jesus was born and the prophecies/ expectations. They then had the opportunity to 'interview' Mary and Joseph in a hot seat activity to ask their questions.

We are so proud of our team of Mathematicians from Year 6 who attended the Maths Masters competition at the Eric Morecambe Centre last week. They showed the 3 Rs exceptionally well and were commended for their politeness and good manners.

A special mention to our two children who won an award for resilience!
