  • A love note to New York on 9/11/2020: I come from a long line of New Yorkers. My grandparents on my mom’s side of the family are from New York. My mom was actually born in Yonkers on 09/11/1960 (happy birthday @melissadebes). So I’ve grown up admiring the honesty, directness and strength of New Yorkers near and dear to my heart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I still remember the awe I had seeing the New York skyline for the first time as buildings grew larger from the taxi window. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my teens, I remember feeling the energy of the city. The hustle and bustle. The dreams being tirelessly chased and achieved. And dreaming up my own. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my twenties, I almost moved here with my advertising job. I remember the kindness a bagel shop owner showed me when I didn’t have cash on my way to the office. I came back the next day to pay him extra and he smiled and said “I knew you’d return”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I remember the spontaneous moments around every corner, the late night pizza on a curb (shout out @valoriedarling), vintage shopping + broadway shows (shout out @meredymartini), a trip to Versace (shout out @alwaysaweins), wandering West Village like a local (shout out @carolinaxoneill), trying on rings before my bestie got engaged (shout out @motothejo), countless engagement sessions, wandering Central Park in the rain (shout out @lindsmawhee), and so much more... I’ve never lived in this city but it’s propelled my dreams, friendships and love for my family roots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll never forget. I’ll always remember the resilience of this city, the kindness of its citizens, the selflessness of its first responders, and the unity it inspired on 9/11/2001. Sending so much love to the families that lost someone to such a tragic event. #neverforget
