I always knew I wanted a career in fashion but what I didn’t know was how to make it happen. I knew I had a gift at making myself and others look great, feel great, and be great on a frugal budget but where was the money in that? In 2008 after talking with one of my coworkers I decided to try my hand at fashion blogging little did I know this was the beginning I’d been searching for. After a couple very exciting years of blogging at the Frugal Flirty N Fab it dawned on me that this was my way of breaking into the fashion industry and best of all I was doing it my way. Then I began to notice the ugliness of the blogging world, black blogging world in particular. It became very obvious that the bloggers who looked like me were getting fewer opportunities, being paid less, and were being downright overlooked when it came to marketing by many of the larger corporations we dedicate so much of our spending to. That’s when I joined the Bloggers Like Me Facebook Group. In this group we discussed how we as Black Bloggers could make our money without having to be picked, chosen, and looked over for opportunities. One of the first things I learned in the group was how to find that thing you were really good at and make money from it, and in the Spring of 2017, Boutique Sales Chic was born!
