My final post about the benefits of being a second shooter! You get to come home after the wedding and... relax! As a lead shooter, I immediately download and back up all of my images when I get home. As a second, there's no editing, no follow up - it's over! And that gives me more time to spend with my family - my husband, two sons, and my two fuzzy dogs.
Ok, I'm coming to the end of my series about why I continue to enjoy working as a second shooter for a few dates each year, in addition to my own bookings. I can't overlook how fun it is to get to work with my friends! I have known these people for around a decade, and it is just a BLAST getting to share these experiences with them. And lucky for them (HAHA) I usually try to capture a few BTS photos for them. Photos 1 &2 @aaronvargaphoto, 3 & 4 @leeannmarieg, 5 and 6 @weddingsbyalisa, and 7 @theyellowrosestudio. Go follow them all!
Yes, another reason to love second shooting - getting to see new places! While the @omniwilliampennhotel is not new to me at all, until this wedding I photographed with @theyellowrosestudio, I had never been to a wedding in The Terrace Room, the restaurant off the main lobby. It was beautiful! Look at that ceiling!
I'm preparing for a trip to Iceland... can't wait! I've learned that Iceland has very few trees. So while Pittsburgh may not have lava fields, volcanoes and waterfalls galore, let's admire the amazing trees we do have. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @niyathihegde⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #mellonpark #maternityphotos #maternity #expecting #silhouette #maternitysilhouette #pregnancyphotos
Being a second photographer can be a great way to get experience and learn when you're starting out. Now in my 11th wedding season, that's not a motivating factor for me. But - there is ALWAYS something to learn. There are always ways to improve. Being the second photographer gives you time to take risks, to quietly observe, to stay fresh and to grow, grow, grow. There is no doubt in my mind that working as a second photographer helps me continue to get better, year after year. This photo captured while working for @leeannmarieg.
