It’s been a long time coming, but I feel hope as I recognize how many of us are coming together to help one another. . . I know Pride month has been less than ideal and less on the forefront of people’s minds, but something I read struck a chord with me. It said: “June is Pride Month but it’s been completely dominated by the Black Loves Matter movement.   • Funny how the common saying is “I’m Gucci” when in fact most of us are TJ Maxx 🤔 . . Or in my case, a thrift store. 😂 This entire outfit consists of thrifted finds, and I’m pretty damn proud. As I’ve gotten older and a little more financially secure, I’ve been able to branch out and try new clothing brands. But what with the lower impact and more sustainable choice of thrifting, I’ve been returning to my fashion roots of scavenging through thrift stores and proudly announcing “Guess how much THIS cost??” (Hint: its usually less than $10 😁). . . My latest score? A floral skirt with its original tags still attached. Originally, it was $50. I only paid $6. 🥳 While it wasn’t a trendy option when I was growing up and going to private school (wearing hand me down clothes? Ew, that’s for poor people, isn’t it? 🙄), I love how it’s been rebranded in recent years. . . Do you remember how you viewed thrifting in middle school? High school?   • What all the aliens watching season 20 of Earth are saying 👽 #yikes . . Checking in with all my fellow earthlings - how are you doing!? Overwhelmed? Checked out? Angry? Pretty sure I’ve cycled through all of those things, especially in the last few weeks. 😥But a helpful tip I learned from @patriotact is that you have to pick what you’re going to care about. . . In today’s world, we are constantly flooded with news and updates on a global scale 🌎🌍🌏 It is overwhelming for a single person to try and stay on top of all of that - let alone to care deeply about every single thing! 🤯Right now I am keeping my brain’s “windows” open on systemic racism in America and COVID-19...and that’s a lot as it is. Plastic straws? 🥤That’s gonna have to be on someone else’s conscious right now (although it should really be on giant corporations since they’re the biggest contributors to plastic waste, not consumers, so...). . . You get the idea. If we choose to devote ourselves to too many things, we’ll get burnt out. Focus on what matters most to you and start there.⚡️ . .
